Why would any social conservative support Rudy for President? Got me.

This is why Gingrich is airing his dirty laundry (Josh - 3/12/2007 8:31:37 AM)
He wants to be the "Conservative's" choice for '08, because it's clearly not going to be Giuliani or Romney.

Too bad for Gingrich that he and Giuliani have 6 wives and who knows how many illicit affairs between them.  The only one on a first marriage is the Mormon (Romney).

Of course, none of this would be a problem for conservatives if George Allen were still a credible candidate... a thought that keeps me going through all the tough times. ;0)

Getting it out of the way (DanG - 3/12/2007 10:22:56 AM)
Gingrich is getting out the dirty laundry now.  That way, if it comes up later, he can say "that's old news."

Even if he does win the nomination (Chris Guy - 3/12/2007 8:37:57 AM)
There will probably be a significant third party challenge from the right. There are tens of millions of evangelicals who will not compromise on these and other issues.

Giuillani (connie - 3/12/2007 8:49:30 AM)
I think he has no chance of getting the nomination given the Christian Right's influence within the Republican Party. Depending upon what he says about this war, he could be a viable candidate to make a third party run.

And I think the GOP is realizing right now that they have a problem (PM - 3/12/2007 9:16:22 AM)
McCain is too old (and he has a mixed "right wing" record); Rudy has the liberal baggage; their other candidates are almost unknown.  So the right wing is starting to trot out other possibilities like Newt and now Fred Thompson.

And remember, "Newt" is another name for a reptile.

Good Lord! (DanG - 3/12/2007 10:24:07 AM)
The man's more comfortable with public funding for abortion than I am!  And this guy is a Republican why?

Then and Now (Teddy - 3/12/2007 4:09:36 PM)
When Rudi Dear ran for Mayor it was different. That was Then; this is Now. If Reagan and McCain could flip flop on abortion and other issues, so can Rudi suffer a come to Jesus conversion. He's a sly fox, he stiffed the firefighters after 9/11 and he'll do whatever it takes. Do not write him off yet--- he gives the authoritarian patriarchal righties a warm fuzzy feeling because he is such a macho leader-type (in their eyes).
