Supporting the Troops: GOP Style

The reason that Tom Davis and his Republican buddies kept quiet all this time about the conditions at Walter Reed is quite simple. They wanted to support the troops. Here's what Rep. Bill Young (R-FL) told CQ when asked about the situation at the hospital:
"We did not go public with these concerns, because we did not want to undermine the confidence of the patients and their families and give the Army a black eye while fighting a war."

So, there you have it. Thank you Republicans for protecting us from the truth and saving us from biblical threats like organized labor. Because if 45,000 airport workers get health insurance and wounded soliders get the care they desperately need and deserve, the terrorists win. The next time someone puts their life on the line for this country and is treated like crap, find the first Republican you come across, high-five them and exclaim, "Take THAT Osama!"

Below the fold, the Daily Show's Rob Riggle shows us the danger we Democrats put our troops in every day:

Thanks to the GOP, We've Brought "Progress" to Iraq LOL But Tragic (PM - 3/9/2007 10:49:41 AM)
from the dpa German Press Agency, via Raw Story comes news that "corruption in Iraq is now worse than it was during Saddam Hussein's regime, the Chairman of Iraq's Commission on Public Integrity (CPI), Radhi Hamza al-Radhi, said . . ." ***

'There are eight ministers and 40 general directors against whom corruption charges have been brought and they had all fled abroad,' ***According to Al-Radhi, the commission was currently investigating the embezzlement of public funds to the tune of eight billion US dollars. Independent observers in Baghdad report that it is very difficult to find an official who will discharge a public service without a bribe.

I guess the GOP's Iraq policies are good at one thing -- preserving the values of bribery and corruption.  Maybe Duke Cunningham should be sent over to help with the accounting.

Bill Young was one of 3 crooked Congressmen (Andrea Chamblee - 3/9/2007 10:58:40 AM)
who got paid by the Walter Reed contractor as the contract was finalized.
