This is great news.  Looks like either Margi Vanderhye or Rip Sullivan - whichever one wins the Democratic primary - has a great shot at being elected the next Delegate representing the 34th District.  Nice.

(UPDATE by Rob: While we're linking to interesting blog posts, Swing State picks up on the dream scenario we've all been talking about. Mark Warner spooks John Warner into retiring and beats Tom Davis, leaving an open seat ripe for the picking in NOVA.)

Taking John Warner's seat, (Chris Guy - 3/4/2007 1:48:57 AM)
Beating Tom Davis, and Leslie Byrne winning back her old seat in Congress. Right now I've got Homer Simpson-esque drool coming out of the corner of my mouth.

Too liberal (varealist - 3/4/2007 2:28:31 AM)
Isn't she a.) too liberal and b.) washed-up? While the 11th is trending Dem, no doubt, methinks she need I's to win, too.

byrne... (varealist - 3/4/2007 2:29:13 AM)
...i was talking about byrne...

Byrne lost the Lt. Gov. race by 1% (Chris Guy - 3/4/2007 2:54:52 AM)
If you can get 49% statewide, getting over 50% in the 11th is easy. That race was only 16 months ago my friend.

Plus, some woman in the House of Rep. named Pelosi would love to see her win back that seat next year.

Also, varealist, do you like Senator Webb and the new Democratic majority in the Senate? Because you have Byrne to thank for it.

But, oh yeah, she's washed up. Sorry.

a) No; b) No. (Lowell - 3/4/2007 6:42:34 AM)
But thanks for repeating right-wing talking points!
