House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL): "It looks like a lot of that place [New Orleans] could be bulldozed." (in other words, "Hastert to Big Easy:  Drop Dead!"  Thanks, Mr. Speaker.  Is that what your master Tom DeLay told you to say or did you come up with that comment all by yourself, you dumb shit?)

President George W. Bush: "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees."  (uh, yeah, just about EVERYBODY anticpated that -- except for you, apparently)

President George W. Bush "I think the people want the president to be in a position to make good, crisp decisions and to stay healthy, and part of my being is to be outside exercising. So I'm mindful of what goes on around me. On the other hand, I'm also mindful that I've got a life to live, and will do so."  (So nice to hear that you're healthy and that you've got a "life" outside the duties of being President.  You DO remember that you were (s)elected President, right, you doofus?)

President George W. Bush: "Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch."  (yeah, sipping mint juleps with Mississippi Senator Trent Lott, who you were so quick to abandon back in 2002 when he waxed rhapsodic about arch-segregationist Strom Thurmond....what a great vision for America you've got there, President Bush.  Hey, you think you might be able to fit a few poor black people on that porch with you, or are they just the servants?)

President George W. Bush: "The results [of Katrina relief efforts] are not acceptable."  (except when you say that we are "responding quickly" and trying to pass the blame to local officials)

FEMA Director Michael Brown: "...even though there were mandatory evacuations and voluntary evacuations called for, literally hundreds of thousands of people for whatever reasons-- I'm not going to second guess - but for whatever reasons --chose or could not evacuate."  (CHOSE?  You're not going to SECOND GUESS?  Earth to Michael Brown, do you have any clue or do you have your head up a horse's ass?  New Orleans is one of the poorest cities in America, and hundreds of thousands of its citizens don't even have cars, let alone any money or anyplace to go.  How on earth were they supposed to "choose" to evacuate?  Such sensitivity.  Unbelievable.)

FEMA Director Michael Brown"People are getting the help they need." (again, earth to Michael Brown - oh, and by the way, why the HELL haven't you been fired yet?)

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)"Given the tragic and devastating events along the Gulf Coast, members of the Senate would have great difficulty explaining why we were debating the estate tax during our first days back." (Bill Frist and the Republicans apparently are more concerned - shock! - about MORE tax breaks for the top 2% of Americans than about pressing budget needs in New Orleans, the Gulf Coast in general, Iraq, etc.  Oh, by the way, getting rid of the estate tax will cost charities billions of dollars in donations)

The point here is very simple.  The American Conservative movement has completely and utterly failed once again.  These people are heinous, and don't deserve to be elected county dog catcher, let alone to positions of great trust and power.  They have squandered American lives and American treasure, and this past week they showed their true colors in the ruined city of New Orleans.  These people must go, and they must go right away. There's not time to waste.
