Gilmore Crashes Hate-Fest '07

Remember, several weeks ago, we heard that Jim Gilmore was running for President? Well so far he's been so active on the campaign trail that he recieved this rave review from the National Journal, which currently ranks him 10th out of 12 Republicans (lower than some candidates who aren't even running): "Still waiting to see whether he'll take time off from his law practice to campaign."

Tomorrow his former excellency will unveil an ad via YouTube (irooonyyyyy) attacking Giuliani, Romney, and McCain for their conservative credentials, or lack thereof. Gilmore will be one of the speakers at CPAC this weekend and, with the current crop of Repubic candidates in the race, could actually turn some heads. I actually admire the joke of a former Governor for saying what everyone knows, but nobody has the guts to say publicly. That is, that the GOP field is a joke. McCain is easily the most conservative of the early frontrunners, but conservatives hate his guts for various petty, childish reasons. The fact that someone like Gilmore could make some noise at CPAC is the biggest indictment of this sad state of affairs I can think of.

Oh, and Ann Coulter has inducted John Edwards into a group that includes Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Al Gore, of Democrats she thinks is a homosexual. And in Edwards' case, it was caught on C-SPAN and she didn't use the word "gay". The crowd applauded. And this is the group Gilmore, Giuliani, and co. are openly courting.
