That's what's buzzing around today. And apparently that's what the Washington Post is reporting.

Lowell Feld (Raising Kaine) and Chris Cillizza (The Fix) also blog about it.

Former Virginia Gov. Mark R. Warner is being courted by national Democrats to run for the U.S. Senate seat now held by John W. Warner (R-Va.) and is seriously considering the 2008 challenge, several Capitol Hill and state sources said.

This is great news, since I have begun a online draft to collect signatures to urge the former Virginia Governor to run for U.S. Senate.
Mark R. Warner

Mark Warner had dinner with Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) last month, and the two have since talked regularly about the contest, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because a final decision has not been made.

If Mark Warner runs for U.S. Senate in 2008 he joins a long historic list of former Virginia Governors to run for U.S. Senate most recently Chuck Robb and George Allen.

So, I ask all of you.. to join the effort and sign the petition. Help urge Governor Mark R. Warner, we need him in the U.S. Senate and help keep turning Virginia blue!

Still can't imagine he'd want the Senate seat (DanG - 3/1/2007 2:01:18 PM)
I still can't imagine that Mark Warner would prefer to be a Senator rather than Governor again in 2009.  But if he runs, he'll have 100% of my support.
