The "Blue Dog" is Howling!

Steve Sisson, better known as the "Valley Blue Dog Democrat," has a typically long, meandering, kind of wacky, yet fascinating article in today's Augusta Free Press.  If you haven't read it, you might want to check it out.  This guy, whatever his poltical persuasion (and he seems a lot more like a Republican than a "Blue Dog Democrat" to me!) is certainly plugged in to the Virginia political scene, no doubt about that.

Anyway, here are a few of the key lines -- at least the ones I agree with, or think are damaging to Jerry "SpongeBob" Kilgore, that is.
  • "Russ Potts has thrown the biggest monkey wrench into Virginia party politics and election campaigning since Harry Byrd fractured the Virginia Democratic Party in the 1970s."

  • "Republican Jerry Kilgore will probably lose the general election with the addition of the Potts candidacy."

  • "Since Friday, the Republican Party of Virginia and the Kilgore Communications Report have both fired off multiple hit-the-panic-button-type press releases condemning Potts....the multiple press releases condemning Potts are a sign of GOP desperation."

  • "Warrenton mayor Fitch is too legit to quit. Conservative Fitch's motivation could be to box Kilgore in a corner with the tax issue, and specifically, the no-tax pledge that Kilgore has attempted to publicly ignore..."

  • "Is Kilgore's new campaign slogan always an anti-tax bridesmaid, never an anti-tax bride?"
  • As I said in the title, the "Blue Dog" is really howling today.  Could it be that "Blue Dogs" -- even if they are really Republicans, not Democrats -- like the snow?
