And nobody deserves it more for his tireless work in fighting disastrous global climate change:

Al Gore has done a very important job as former US VP and has created so much pressure in the USA that for the first time President Bush must now say that climate change is a problem. No other single person in the last year has done so much to put the threat of climate change on the agenda, and contributed to lasting changes in international policy,

By the way, if you haven't yet seen Gore's powerful, extraordinary movie "An Inconvenient Truth," it's now available in video stores everywhere, so go rent it!

Al Gore (drmontoya - 2/1/2007 11:02:56 AM)
Wow, dude this guy is getting pretty f'n popular these days.

Now that I am sure my man Clark is going to run in 2008... Al Gore is going to make it hard for everyone should he run.

Come on Gore, please let us know so we don't get too invested with our respective candidates!!!!!!

No Such Thing (Waldo Jaquith - 2/1/2007 11:40:31 AM)
Aftenposten should know that being nominated for a Nobel Prize doesn't actually mean anything.  It's not like being nominated for a Grammy -- it doesn't put you on a shortlist.  As far as the Nobel Foundation is concerned, anybody can nominate anybody for a Nobel Prize -- they don't care. :)

So, good news, Lowell: I hereby nominate you for the Nobel Prize in...uh...Chemistry.  Good luck. :)

Waldo, I graciously accept your nomination (Lowell - 2/1/2007 1:53:05 PM)
for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.  It's quite an honor, especially considering that I know jack shit about Chemistry.  Or Nobel Prizes, for that matter.  Hey, does knowing jack shit about a whole bunch of stuff qualify me to be a blogger?  Hmmmmmmm? :)

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! (Flipper - 2/1/2007 12:13:32 PM)
(Flipper, ecstatic over Gore's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, does a triple gainer in honor of BIG AL!)

Everybody gets nominated (Chris Guy - 2/1/2007 12:57:09 PM)
for a Nobel Peace Prize.

George W. Bush has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

I wouldn't call it AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil profit breaks records (Andrea Chamblee - 2/1/2007 1:28:23 PM)
Exxon posts record profit.

"HOUSTON - Oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp. on Thursday posted the largest annual profit by a U.S. company - $39.5 billion - even as earnings for the last quarter of 2006 declined 4 percent.

The 2006 profit topped Exxon Mobil's own previous record of $36.13 billion set in 2005."

It is amazing....... (Flipper - 2/1/2007 5:43:59 PM)
(Flipper, ever so annoyhed at Chris, swings his tail fin and hits Chris inthe back of the head - gently of course!)

Dude, it is amazing!  With Gore's Oscar nominations for his film and now his nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize, it further elevates the issue of global warming not only in this country but globally as well.  All of this focuses more attention on the issue.  And maybe, just maybe, with all of this exposire, we can finally move foward to resolve this problem - and it sure would be nice if Gore were in the White House to resolve it!
