I just received the following e-mail:

Dear Lowell,

I am writing to invite you to see Senator Obama speak at two events in the Washington, DC-area on Friday, February 2, 2007.

At 10:00 AM at the Washington Hilton at 1919 Connecticut Avenue, Senator Obama will address the Democratic National Committee's Winter Meeting. Doors will open at 8:00 AM and seating will be limited, so please come early. If you're planning on attending, please let us know by sending an email to:

rsvpdnc@barackobama.com

Later that day, Senator Obama will appear at a rally sponsored by Students for Barack Obama in Johnson Hall at George Mason University. Doors will open at 11:30 AM and Senator Obama will speak at approximately 1:00 PM. Please RSVP for the rally at http://www.studentsf....

Students for Barack Obama is a network of more than 52,000 students that began on the website Facebook.com and has grown into a national grassroots movement.

Both of these events will be great opportunities to demonstrate the tremendous grassroots enthusiasm for Senator Obama and his efforts to change politics in this country. I hope you will be able to join us.

Sincerely,

David Plouffe

What do people here think about Barack Obama, and how many plan to attend either or both of these events?

Also at the DNC Winter Meeting (lcoburn - 1/30/2007 2:48:22 PM)
I would also like to point out the 2008 Presidential candidate John Edwards will also be speaking at the Democratic National Committee Winter Meeting at 10:40 am (I'm assuming immediately after Obama).

I initially wanted to attend this event to see Edwards speak and I suppose hearing Obama will be an added bonus.  With all the buzz this event is getting though, I'm hoping I can get there in time to get a seat.

It seems as if Obama is getting as much star power as Bono these days.

Thinking about it (Kryndis - 1/30/2007 2:52:22 PM)
I'm considering going to the GMU rally given that I live right down the road.  Annoyingly, they insist on having you RSVP through Facebook.  Luckily I still have an account there even though I'm no longer a student.  Anyway, I figure I'll RSVP, whether I actually make it over there or not is another story.

Obama would make..... (Flipper - 1/30/2007 3:51:14 PM)
a great running mate for Al Gore! Sign the petition!

Obama = 44 (DukieDem - 1/30/2007 4:05:20 PM)
Mark it down.

I'm still not 100% committed (Chris Guy - 1/30/2007 4:23:47 PM)
to any one candidate. But right now Obama is my first choice.

I'm seeing him in Richmond for the JJ Dinner on the 17th so I'm not going ot the GMU thing.

Are you going to the DNC meetings? (Lowell - 1/30/2007 4:29:46 PM)
n/t

Hell Yeah (pitin - 1/30/2007 4:50:48 PM)
I'm going to see Barack at GMU.  He is my choice for POTUS, and at my own school, how could I not go.

PS, the GMU is open to the public, and being billed as THE DC region event for Barack (besides the DNC of course), so everyone come on by.

He's great... but lets go with someone who has more experience (demo925 - 1/30/2007 11:42:00 PM)
I don't think so... I can't imagine supporting him when there are numerous candidates who have such better experience and perhaps a better chance of winning than he does.  Richardson, Clinton and Clark all have done more in government and each one has ten times as much foreign policy experience as Obama.  Many point out that Obama inspires Dems... but polling shows that he doesn't do that for the average American.  If he is our nominee than I will welcome him with open arms but lets nominate someone with strong experience and bring Obama on as our VP.
