The Regional DNC Organizers

In November "kingdem" said " At one time the DNC did not include Virginia in the 50 State Strategy, but the Party Staff fought to bring 3 regional staffers to Virginia. The Party now has regional staffers in NOVA, HRoads and SWVA."  Can we get names, e-mail addresses, and extent of territory?  I've asked in my committee and no one knows anything yet about them.  Thanks.

Brian Phillips: SW Virginia Regional DNC Organizer (cycle12 - 1/28/2007 3:42:55 PM)
Thanks, Dianne; the DNC's SW Virginia Regional Organizer is Brian Phillips, who lives in Pulaski; Brian's e-mail address is phillipsb@dnc.org and his cell phone address is (540) 320-0564.

Steve

And that's his cell phone NUMBER, incidentally (cycle12 - 1/28/2007 4:10:15 PM)
Sorry about that...

Brian came on board with us in either September or October of last year and was very helpful in the Webb and Boucher campaigns.  He was here at our home this past Tuesday evening for our SOTU Webb response party.

Brian is a very intelligent and savvy individual who is willing and able to do the background, grassroots level work in order to increase Democratic voting in the 5th, 6th and 9th Congressional districts.

I look forward to working with Brian this year in our various local and state elections.

Thanks again!

Steve

Hampton Roads (Newport News Dem - 1/28/2007 7:25:17 PM)
position is open and there is the best candidate in the world available, eager and anxious for the position.

She is a poster here on RK and needs to be hired now.

Do you read (hear) me DNC/DPVA??? Susan Mariner for Hampton Roads.

I vote for Susan Mariner, too! (cycle12 - 1/28/2007 8:07:44 PM)
Met her during breakfast at the Sheraton Premiere at Tyson's Corner in NoVa the morning after Jim Webb's wonderful U. S. Senate election.

Susan Mariner is intelligent, motivated, personable and attractive; she would be perfect for that position.

How do we start a "Draft Susan" movement right here on RK?

Please repeat after me; Susan-Susan-Susan...

Thanks!

Steve

Susan Mariner the best candidate for this position (kayg23451 - 1/30/2007 3:46:49 PM)
Susan has already proven her efficacy in grassroots efforts. That Jim Webb won the primary and then the election is a testimony to Susan's talents and ability.  Susan is smart, dedicated, and persuasive.  She has integrity, intelligence, and drive.  But beyond all the positive attributes that Susan possesses, she is also a woman and, not to play the gender card, but if the other two organizers are men, then not choosing a woman will say volumes about the Democratic Party in Virginia and will have a significant negative impact on Democratic grassroots efforts in this part of the State.  Susan is the best qualified without playing the gender card, but being a woman gives added impact to Susan's qualifications.  People are tired of politics as usual that exclude rather than include.  Choosing Susan for this job would go a long way to assuring HR Democratic grassroots that the Party does not play the game of exclusion.

No VA in the house (joe8track - 1/28/2007 7:42:08 PM)
Hi Dianne,

I'm Joe Montano and I want to be your next President! (I figured since all Democrats were announcing their run for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, I'd get in it, too.) ;)

My designation is Northern Virginia Regional Field Organizer and I operate primarily in Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church City, Fairfax City, Fairfax County and Loudoun County. During the 06 cycle I started out in the 2nd CD working on the Kellam race (I grew up in Norfolk, so it was great hanging out with mom and dad). In August I returned to Northern Virginia and primarily concentrated on a coordinated effort among Webb, Hurst and Pandak. I also assisted with the Ethnic Outreach efforts by the super Webb volunteers. The farthest I travelled was to Winchester to help out Paul Hampton, Chair of the committee.

I was the Asian American Outreach Director for the Kaine-Byrne-Deeds coordinated in 05. My first campaign was working in Nevada on an Asian American and Pacific Islander GOTV team for the DNC.

2007 has already started in Prince William's Occoquan District and I've spent some time canvassing for Jeff Dion. I will also be there tomorrow and Tuesday!

Here's my contact information:

Also, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee has provided me with a workspace and the address is 2815 Hartland Rd, Falls Church VA.

I spoke with some Spotsy Dems and would be willing to come down to help train and coordinate volunteers on a limited basis. I met some of the great candidates at the DPVA training a couple of weekends ago. Naturally, I'll spend most of my time operating father up north.

Joe Montano is the real deal !!! (dsvabeachdems - 1/28/2007 11:12:08 PM)
I worked alongside Joe down here in Hampton Roads at a number of campaign events during the fall of 06 and he is a talented asset for any effort. He has much to offer and hope that NOVA Dems take advantage of his expertise!

On top of that he is a pleasure to be around and to work with. My guess, though, is that Joe doesn't meet one of the constitutional requirements to run for President at this time. But, he is good at SODUKU.

Dan Sullivan

Unfortunately... (joe8track - 1/29/2007 12:43:32 PM)
I'm old enough to run for president. My bio would read that I was born during my father's tenure as a Navy steward in the Johnson White House.

I met Joe at the (Mark - 1/30/2007 3:34:56 AM)
recent training meeting in Richmond, and had a great talk with him.

I wish he was my 50-state strategist, but then Brian would be upset.

Speaking of Brian, he and Jim Turpin of the DPVA Executive Committee are starting the Rural Caucus, a project I am very excited about. I can't wait to have that in place and start flexing our rural muscles, the untapped resource of the DPVA.

Nice meeting you Joe, and I hope we get to talk more soon.

Joe (pitin - 1/30/2007 12:18:19 AM)
I took your advice and contacted the DNC about doing a training for the GMU Dems and Next Generation Democrats, and they have agreed to come down to Fairfax and put on a shin dig for us, now all actors just need to agree on a date, it'll be great.

I'll let you know when we pick a date, so you can spread the word and get as many local young Democrats, trained up and ready to take back the HoD and State Senate.

A question.... (Dianne - 1/30/2007 7:31:48 PM)
Joe, You sound really great!  I'm wondering if you will be working with the county committees in the 88th District (Carlos del Toro race)?  Hope so.

Who will be covering the counties in the 88th? (Dianne - 1/30/2007 8:28:39 AM)
We have a fabulous candidate, Carlos del Toro, in the 88th.  Will any of the organizers be working in that territory?

SWVA Regional DNC Organizer (BJP33w - 1/30/2007 12:24:57 PM)
If my counterpart in NOVA has announced that he will seek the presidency in '08, then I will throw my "Proud to be a Demcrat" hat in the ring and run as his Vice President.

Seriously, I accepted this position in October and have traveled the length and width of Virginia's 9th Congressional District, represented by the Honorable Richard C. Boucher, assisting Democrats at every level of government campaign for and win elections. Without a doubt, the greatest part of this career has easily been meeting so many truly inspiring people who share the same passion for ensuring our children and grandchildren are afforded the same or better opportunities here in Virginia and this great nation.

The discussion of a Rural Caucus, as mentioned by my friend from Cumberland County, is progressing and the initial response is very encouraging.

Let me end my comment by saying I look forward to meeting and working with so many of you in the future.  It is rather obvious, but there is a direct coorelation between our party's success and the ability of our party to challenge, inspire, and motivate our grassroots volunteers into action.  That is where I see the "rubber meeting the road" for my position.
