TLC Ticket At AFL-CIO Convention, Republicans Cry Foul

An article in the Times Dispatch proves that Republicans will thrash at anything.

Tim Kaine, Leslie Byrne, and Creigh Deeds walk into a convention of labor unions. [This is not the beginning of a joke.] RPVA chair Kate Obenshain Griffin comes out and sqeals that their "appearance at the AFL-CIO convention is just another example of the Democrat ticket pandering to the powerful special-interest groups who finance their campaigns."

That's right, workers of America. You are one of the evil powerful special interest groups! The labor movement is a "powerful special interest group" that has, suffice to say, provided us with many things. Good things. Like what? A minimum wage, overtime pay, fair working conditions, and much more.

This coming from the folks who won't even bother looking at the labor unions. For shame.

What was really inte (Teddy - 4/4/2006 11:27:50 PM)
What was really interesting about the article on TLC "sneaking" unannounced into the labor meeting (which was "closed to the public"--- as if the Republicans don't have special meetings open only to pre-screened mega donors to the GOP) was that the meeting WAS open to the Press. But the Press chose not to describe what the participants had to say, or what TLC had to say, about the issues supposedly being threshed out in the political campaign. Can it be that the media was pandering to their Republican masters, and suppressed the agenda of the Democratic candidates? All the article talked about was what the Republicans said about the Dems' unannounced visit, and, finally, reluctantly, about the Democratic response.  Not a word about the substantive goings on at the convention.

This is another symp (Josh - 4/4/2006 11:27:50 PM)
This is another symptom of the overall sickness of the cult of "free" markets.

You should hear how the right wing rose up yesterday to declaim the $235 Million settlement against VIOXX.

It was truly repulsive.  Stuff like: "Hey there were warnings on the label."  "Bingo, doesn't matter your husband had to die, what a huge payoff."  "Evil trial lawyers."  "Evil woman trying to raise our health costs."  Evil evil evil.

Apparently anything that gets in the way of tax free corporate expansion is EVIL, regardless whether lives are lost, or rights destroyed.

The saddest and scariest thing is that this cult now owns America.

Be afraid!  Be very afraid!
