CORRECTION: Sen. Warner is against Bush's augmentation

Earlier, I stated that Sen. Warner had come out in opposition to President Bush's escalation of the Iraq War.  I was wrong.
So "escalate" in the Hagel-Biden resolution became "augment" in today's Warner-Collins one. This key revision is supposed to help make it easier for more Senators to sign on and declare their opposition to an escalation plan that's opposed by roughly 60 percent of the American public in most polls.

Your public servants at work.

In other words, Warner is introducing his own resolution because he disagrees with Sen. Hagel (R) calling Bush's plan an escalation.  Glad we have such an experienced Senator making these tough decisions.

Who are speaking out (Gordie - 1/22/2007 11:06:37 PM)
All the Republicans up for re-election in '08. Mainly Warner. He knows he is going to be in trouble in '08.

Warner votes against global warming; Tom Davis votes for it (Andrea Chamblee - 1/22/2007 11:48:46 PM)
Here is the voting summary for the Creating Long-Term Energy Alternatives for the Nation Act.

If this voting record continues, maybe Tom will be a guest on the Conservative cruise.

I'm writing to suggest that you call BS on Warner.

On a news clip shown on Countdown, Warner was embarassing again, nothing new, when he mentioned sending additional troops to Iraq.  He couldn't bring himself to say "civil war" and said something like "fighting between Sunnis and Shias."  Does this go well with "augmentation"?

Why do we keep treating this BS artist like a statesman?

And the answer is?  By the way, the person who wrote this comment is a moderate/fairly conservative Democrat, not a "liberal," if that matters to anyone out there.

Countdown (Gordie - 1/23/2007 9:09:03 AM)
Saw Warner's flawed appearance and had to say what a JERK when he could not get out the words CIVIL WAR.
Only thing I can say is the Media loves him,but I classify Warner and McCain as complete jerks and care nthing abut what the citizens want or believe should happen.

Republicans want war. Democrats want peace. It all boils down to Republicans own vicious dogs. While Democrats own cats and friendly dogs from animal shelters.

I hate that picture. At first glance it looks like Mark Warner operating the elevator for John.
