Hypocrisy, Thy Name is Republican

See here for more, courtesy of Ben Tribbett (aka, "Not Larry Sabato").  Basically, the story from Ben is that Bob McDonnell, our fine Attorney General, "during the recent Republican Advance...let the drinks flow in a 'fair and equitable manner'." That's fascinating coming from a guy whose main claim to fame - besides being a holier-than-thou moralistic right wingnut - is that he couldn't recall if he had ever engaged in sodomy.  Now, McDonnell's apparently decided that college kids should have as much alcohol as possible.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican.

P.S. Waldo's now-defunct Virginia Family Values PAC had this to say about McDonnell:

Years of work to make private, consensual sex a matter of government regulation earned him the nickname of "Taliban Bob" and the head of the "Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice" by columnist Jim Spencer in the Newport News Daily Press.

Personally, I used to enjoy using Spencer's nickname for McDonnell, but now I just call him "Sodomy Bob."  The thing is, "Bob the Underage Drinking Enabler" just doesn't have the same ring to it. ;)

P.P.S.  James Martin is demanding that Bob McDonnell resign. Don't hold your breath, James!

My new nickname for ol' Taliban is "Beer Baron Bob."  I dig the alliteration.

That's good! (Lowell - 1/22/2007 6:53:13 PM)

Come on Lowell, be fair. That should be "Uncertain Sodomy Bob". Besides, that would give us a whole new definition for USB port.

wawawawawwsit...WHAT? (phriendlyjaime - 1/22/2007 8:20:00 PM)

Easily (Teddy - 1/22/2007 8:30:14 PM)
if you've imbibed too much.
This thing about arranging for youn students to have plenty to drink is one more thread in the fabric of Special Privilege which forms the basic republican philosophy. They are special, elite, as are their offspring--- and then there's the rest of us, who need to be controlled for our own good by our masters.

Ha! (phriendlyjaime - 1/22/2007 8:49:18 PM)
I can't imagine going to a Democratic party with free booze.  We're too busy spending our $$ on important things.

Not this again!  I seem to recall a certain pitched debate on RK about the topic of McDonnell and underage drinking.  It was a sordid tale of a certain College Republican who worked for a certain Attorney General.

Ok, it really wasn't sordid.  Actually, quite a common occurrence on college campuses.  Nothing to see there.  But the fact that the aforementioned CR worked for said "law and order" Attorney General made the whole thing stink of hypocrisy.

And it happens again - this time even worse because, from the appearance, Bob very much condoned this illegal activity.

If anything, we can at least say they're consistent.

Now if I could just find those photos - they'd go nicely with Ben's collection.
