Has John Warner come out in support of the surge?

ThinkProgress seems to think so. And here is the quote they are basing his support on:
"I found the speech to be credible and sincere. And it does lay down a plan that reflects a lot of study by the executive branch, a lot of advice and opinion that the president took into consideration."
I don't know - that sounds like vague praise for Bush and his lousy speech, not "support" for the plan itself. And if you look at context surrounding the quote, it all sounds like another John Warner dodge to me.  What do you think?

The results of the rest of the Virginia congressional delegation on the flip.  Interesting that the outspoken Virgil Goode and other Republicans "refused to answer."

Independence shuffle (Teddy - 1/20/2007 2:27:37 PM)
is what I call it.  After Big John makes his centrist, moderate bow of independence he will, as is his usual practice, fall in line with Republicans when the vote really counts.  Or, so it seems to me he has done before. He will not embarrass his President.

John Warner is always a (madgranny - 1/21/2007 3:32:34 PM)
double win for this president. Warner postures himself as a solid, independent thinker. In truth, he is a Bush butt boy. As with the Military Commissions Act, he'll appear to care about the troops and to be thoughtfully considering the options. He may recommend something that appears to be altering the presidents view, but will do little to change anything (sound familiar?). In the end, he'll support Bush. Was there any doubt?
