Bob Marshall Needs to Get a Life

He REALLY does. {If you're not in the know, he is a state delegate in Virginia from Prince William County, formerly an exurb locale fast becoming part of metropolitan Washington DC}

Not only was he one of the sponsors from the illegal, anti-marriage amendment from hell, but now he is attempting to draw Virginia backwards by making abortion illegal again.

A bill by Del. Robert G. Marshall (R-Prince William) causes abortion-rights supporters the greatest concern. The bill proposes that Virginia revert to pre-1973 abortion laws if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Under those laws, abortion would be illegal except if the life of the woman or fetus is endangered.
"The right-to-life folks have not seen their concern addressed in years, so this gives them hope there is still some interest in this issue," Marshall said. He added that abortion opponents are engaged in a long-term struggle to take "a couple of steps" each year to reduce abortions.

Seriously, this man is taking time away from solving traffic problems, encouraging educational progress, slowing rapid, hideous suburban sprawl, to do THIS???

And this freak wins 57-43 in 2005...... We gotta make that change for 2007..... We've GOT to....

Remember Russ Potts, who ran as an independent in the 2005 VA Gov Race? He has some words of sanity that will probably get his tush fired from his committee chairmanship......

"It's absolutely outrageous stuff that is just totally out of the mainstream," Potts said. "They just don't get it. Women by the thousands are deserting the Republican Party." Some of Potts's Republican colleagues say he's the one out of the mainstream because he's blocking restrictions that a majority of senators support. Sen. Ken Cuccinelli II (R-Fairfax) refers to the Education and Health Committee as the "committee of death." But Potts, a Republican maverick who angered many party leaders in 2005 when he launched an independent bid for governor, might not be around next year to block abortion-related bills: He said he is considering retiring. If a new chairman takes over and allows antiabortion legislation to reach the full Senate, Potts said, "it has a very good chance to pass."

{As a sidebar, one of the few Republicans left with a tiny little bit of sense... come on Russ, defect!!!!}

Just goes to show why Republicans cannot be trusted with any legislatures. And why Roberts and Alito should not have been let through!!!!

Way to go, Bob. Nice work doing the people's business (2 separate links there) in the assembly.
