The Ongoing Strangeness of Troll KEVIN SCHMIDT(s)

One Kevin Schmidt has recently been appointed as the Commonwealth's very first Coordinator of the DepartmentGÇÖs Office of Farmland Preservation.  http://www.vdacs.vir...

Let's call this guy KEVIN SCHMIDT VDACS VA.  Here's a bio with photo http://www.farmland....
It's not really an unusual name, and another KEVIN SCHMIDT is friends with Jordan here who also likes LGF and trolling liberal blogs. The whole post there is insider snark, but let's call this one KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY.

KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY and friends write at cornbeltwayboys.  KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY posts under pseudos and trolls various left-leaning blogs. Not 100% certain, but because of the content focus and some blog cleansing, it is certainly possible that

KEVIN SCHMIDT VDACS VA = KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY

And no doubt Mark, phriendlyjaime and a slew of other RKers remember the bizarre sometimes drunken rantings of yet a third persona, KEVIN SCHMIDT STERLING VA.

It is not at all out of the realm of possibility that

KEVIN SCHMIDT VDACS VA = KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY = KEVIN SCHMIDT STERLING VA

There is also a olderer (uid:53008) unused screen name at DK, simply "Kevin Schmidt."  No comments, diaries or ratings, but the bio for 53008 reads "Kevin Schmidt, Sterling, VA."

To confuse matters even more, apparently there is a KEVIN SHMIDT IOWA who is also a controversial character.

Anyway, here's some recent work by KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY.  It behooves us to know the views on global warming of those whose salaries we pay, if indeed these characters are one and the same. We rely on people like KEVIN SCHMIDT VDACS VA to advise us on whether or not we should start growing bananas and mangoes. And, yes, it does matter to some of us if this is one of those sadistic and deceptive KEVIN SCHMIDTs, and it matters if he has an serious drinking problem.

Here's just a little sampling of his writings.

Good for him...

Looks like Bruce Braley, also known as sprouts, due to the hair flowing from his nose and ears, is distancing himself from Senator John Kerry.

"Brucy Braley says Kerry's recent comments about the Iraq war were inappropriate.

Braley is running against Republican Mike Whalen in Iowa's First District congressional race. It's a contest considered to be one of the most competitive House races in the country.

Braley's decision to distance himself from Kerry came as a furor grew from comments Kerry made about the Iraq War during a campaign stop in California on Monday."

And why not? Right now, John Kerry is the biggest asshole on the face the Earth. The only way he could get any bigger is too start deep frying aborted fetuses and serving them for lunch at his campaign stops. Of course his aborted fetuses will be flown in fresh from France and Italy.

I think that's great for Braley. I still wouldn't vote for his dumb ass, but he scores a few points. I wouldn't touch Kerry with a 10 foot pole either. I'd shove it up his ass.

And this about global warming

Who do you trust...

Who do you trust when it comes to global warming?

Do you trust Al Gore, who says things like this...

"You know, 15 percent of people believe the moon landing was staged on some movie lot and a somewhat smaller number still believe the Earth is flat. They get together on Saturday night and party with the global-warming deniers."

Or do you trust people like Richard S. Lindzen who is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT.

"A general characteristic of Mr. Gore's approach is to assiduously ignore the fact that the earth and its climate are dynamic; they are always changing even without any external forcing. To treat all change as something to fear is bad enough; to do so in order to exploit that fear is much worse. Regardless, these items are clearly not issues over which debate is ended--at least not in terms of the actual science.

A clearer claim as to what debate has ended is provided by the environmental journalist Gregg Easterbrook. He concludes that the scientific community now agrees that significant warming is occurring, and that there is clear evidence of human influences on the climate system. This is still a most peculiar claim. At some level, it has never been widely contested. Most of the climate community has agreed since 1988 that global mean temperatures have increased on the order of one degree Fahrenheit over the past century, having risen significantly from about 1919 to 1940, decreased between 1940 and the early '70s, increased again until the '90s, and remaining essentially flat since 1998.

There is also little disagreement that levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have risen from about 280 parts per million by volume in the 19th century to about 387 ppmv today. Finally, there has been no question whatever that carbon dioxide is an infrared absorber (i.e., a greenhouse gas--albeit a minor one), and its increase should theoretically contribute to warming. Indeed, if all else were kept equal, the increase in carbon dioxide should have led to somewhat more warming than has been observed, assuming that the small observed increase was in fact due to increasing carbon dioxide rather than a natural fluctuation in the climate system. Although no cause for alarm rests on this issue, there has been an intense effort to claim that the theoretically expected contribution from additional carbon dioxide has actually been detected.

Given that we do not understand the natural internal variability of climate change, this task is currently impossible. Nevertheless there has been a persistent effort to suggest otherwise, and with surprising impact. Thus, although the conflicted state of the affair was accurately presented in the 1996 text of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the infamous "summary for policy makers" reported ambiguously that "The balance of evidence suggests a discernible human influence on global climate." This sufficed as the smoking gun for Kyoto."

I don't about you, but I'll take the MIT professor over a guy who claims to have invented the internet any day of the week.

Seriously, Al Gore is so full of shit he could fertilize every field in state of Iowa. I'm really getting tired of people like Gore saying that global warming is scientific fact and you must be some sort of loon to question that.

Ever notice that people say that global warming is fact have no fucking clue what they are talking about? I'd bet that Al Gore couldn't tell you the difference between a cumulous and a cirrus cloud, but he'll be sure to tell you that if we don't change our ways those clouds are going to fall from the sky.

From now on any time I write about Al Gore, I will no longer refer to him as Al Gore, but rather Chicken Little.

Just for the record, I was looking at some data that had nothing to do with any Kevin Schmidt when I ran across the VDACS announcement.

[update: tipfast25 was the one who blamed his comments on drinking, NOT KEVIN SCHMIDT.  My apologies.]

Comments

I sure do remember! (phriendlyjaime - 1/7/2007 3:11:57 PM)
He was out his MIND with hate for Jim Webb.  And I thought he was just a rabid Miller supporter...has he posted on Kos since the election?

Lots (Kathy Gerber - 1/7/2007 3:51:46 PM)
http://www.dailykos....

I have to make a retraction and apology.  tipfast25 was the one who later claimed he was drinking, not Kevin. That was his excuse for the "trash Virginia" remarks.
http://www.dailykos....
One of tip's incarnations had already been banned.

Well, that's too bad about the drinking, because Kevin really needed an excuse. Nothing he has written since matches those diaries.  It's strange.

ok (Kathy Gerber - 1/7/2007 5:53:50 PM)
Now it looks like KEVIN SCHMIDT CORNBOY is the Iowa guy and not KEVIN SCHMIDT STERLING VA.

Now can someone explain why STERLING is not VDACS?

Kathy (Mark - 1/7/2007 6:31:04 PM)
KEVIN SCHMIDT STERLING VA posted something yesterday on DK. (I think it was yesterday) He is the next incarnation on DK of KEVIN SCHMIDT. This one was in a diary and told Markos to shove it, and I think troll rated him. This was back in Feb 06 I think.

Then a few months later, in May, I believe, Sterling showed up and a lot of DK'ers climbed all over the guy, due to his trollishness and general assholiness. I confronted him and tried to bring the comment up from last winter, but couldn't find it. He was spreading the good news about Harris Miller.

After the primary, he was there maybe only a few times, until right before the election. He might have posted once or twice from the election until now.

He is creepy, and exasperating. He is mostly ignored as far as I know. The coincidence on the VDACS thing is really something. maybe check to see if you can find any addresses in Sterling for a Schmidt, Kevin.

I dunno, ya got me.

Alright (Kathy Gerber - 1/7/2007 7:11:08 PM)
In Feb on DK they mistakenly thought STERLING was KEVIN SCHMIDT IOWA of ninedwarfs fame. Small wonder.

It looks like he was banned and brought back over a to do in a VirginiaBelle diary. I think this must be the one you are talking about.
http://www.dailykos....

He is consistently creepy, or that wouldn't have happened.

Then VirginiaBelle found this
http://dfa.meetup.co...

Sterling's an easy commute to the DC offices of the previous employer of VDACS, Farmland Trust.

All this and I never wrote up the diary I was working on!

Me either (Mark - 1/7/2007 7:40:37 PM)
I was trying to do too many things at once here.

More later.....

Whatever happened to VirginiaBelle? (Susan Mariner - 1/7/2007 10:12:06 PM)
Did she ever return from Montana?  Anybody know?

Have to admit, I really thought Kevin Schmidt on DK was the ninedwarfs fella.  He seemed a caricature of an annoying Democrat.

I did, too. (Kathy Gerber - 1/7/2007 11:23:50 PM)
He still could be and that Sterling thing was a spoof. I don't know about VirginiaBelle but it would be great if she comes back.

Kevin Schmidt, hired troll? (JPTERP - 1/7/2007 9:55:39 PM)
If he is getting paid, his paymasters aren't getting their money's worth.  I would be surprised if all of his verbosity has persuaded a single skeptic.  He's a terrible writer.

Cutting and pasting (Kathy Gerber - 1/7/2007 11:26:00 PM)
He did quite a bit of that, but during a discussion he would always get prematurely ugly.

Is That Like..... (Mark - 1/8/2007 12:04:41 AM)
prematurely ugly.

Is that like unintentionally hilarious?

Or maybe prematurely grey?

:)
