Hmm (Neal2028 - 1/4/2007 10:47:35 PM)
I believe somebody did exactly as I did, and out their camera phone to good use?  :)

TV Photo (kevinceckowski - 1/5/2007 9:47:58 AM)
is all it is, with a little buff to it.

I am a lowly volunteer and did not get tickets to be around the corner and in person.

I was on the first floor of the Russell bldg, then moved with the gang to the 4th, rm 432 to enjoy Webb enter the room with all his fans.

Thanks ! (beachydem - 1/4/2007 10:47:45 PM)
What a great day!  Cspan2 just re-aired the swearing in and caught Jim's group!  How lucky am I !?  Now to find these photos...thank you Lowell and Kevin :))))

Lynda Robb looks great, and how nice that Sen. Warner was there. And the baby was there!

I haven't looked, but I'm sure an RKer will get the video up of the swearing in.  Darth Cheney read them the oath, then shook each hand.....yes, even Jim's :)

Thanks again.  Happy New Year !

John Warner is a class act (Lowell - 1/4/2007 10:50:56 PM)
I suppose Warner didn't have to attend Webb's party, but he did.  I bet he didn't ask Jim Webb how his "boy" was, either! :)

Thank you to Senator Robb as well as Senator Warner. (BlueDog - 1/5/2007 1:04:31 PM)
Thanks to both these very fine men, who must understand the historic significance of the incredibly positive momentum around Senator Webb.

Once again we have a clear example of Senator Webb as a healer, a uniter, someone who builds coalitions and reaches out to all parties in crafting a solution most likely to meet the country's needs.

Thanks for the photos :) (Kathy Gerber - 1/4/2007 10:54:11 PM)
How exciting this all is.

Goosebumps! (kevinceckowski - 1/5/2007 6:01:44 PM)
Yes, that's the word. Big, fat, goosebumps all over my arms and neck.  Truly a thrill that keeps on coming when I see these and all the other pictures folks are sending in from this event. kc.

I imagine this being in books 50 years from now as the day America started taking their nation back.

It looks historic even though it's the present.

Thanks for sharing the photos (Barbara - 1/4/2007 11:27:21 PM)
This was a great day for all.  And since the temps were in the 60s, it gave me the perfect time to proudly wear my 'Real Virginians For Webb' t-shirt.

I couldn't be happier.  Sen. Webb will be GREAT.

To anyone paying attention (Mark - 1/4/2007 11:30:48 PM)
there is a definite buzz around the 110th. This is an historic day for us as Virginians, and as Americans.

I would especially like to congratulate Madame Speaker, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-SF) on her history-making election as Speaker of the House.

It is invigorating to know that the long process of fixing things has finally begun.

Anybody notice... (Neal2028 - 1/5/2007 12:08:41 AM)
Has anybody else noticed Senator Webb seems pretty popular with the cable shows?  He was on The Situation Room during the 4:00 hour, and apparently he was also on Hardball at 7:00.

I sure don't see many people interviewing Bob Corker! :)

Webb (seamusotoole - 1/5/2007 12:08:57 AM)
January 4th 2007 what a great day for Virginians.  The event today was just fabulous.  How sweet it is to officially have Senator Webb representing Virginia and the nation.  It was wonderful to see everyone today who worked so hard to make this all happen.  The staff in the Russell Bldg. remarked that "they'd never seen a celebration quite like this."  Well, what can one expect there's never been an election quite like this either.  Congratulations to Senator James Webb and family.  Congratulations to all of us who worked so hard to make this day a reality.

Thanks for the pics (thegools - 1/5/2007 12:55:01 AM)
I wanted to see it but had to settle for walking around the Russell Senate Office Building and enjoying the vibe.

It is true John Warner was there and was very much the gentleman I expected.  He left before Webb arrived at the party.  I wonder...did he come back after Webb's arrival?

The highlight of the day though had nothing to do with Webb, it was a chance meeting with John Glenn.  My son (2.5 yrs) also got a kiss and some kind words from the man.  Glen is much more than just a former Senator.

I am so glad that my son will be able to say (for the rest of his life) that he met this great American Icon and hero.  (but dammit I forgot my camera!!!)

Glenn (seveneasypeaces - 1/5/2007 12:37:47 PM)
I remember when schools closed and we got to go to the parade in DC for John Glenn the Astronaut.  Very very exciting.

I still think it would make a great movie (Rebecca - 1/5/2007 11:11:27 AM)
I think the Webb campaign and victory would make a great movie and I won't stop talking about it. It has all the elements of a great thriller featuring an underdog who is lifted up by the ordinary people. I hope you guys are saving all the documentation. Let me know when you begin production.

What a GREAT DAY-- An EXCELLENT Start for Senator Webb! (BlueDog - 1/5/2007 12:52:05 PM)
Senator Webb, what a wonderful and courageous sense of balance !  Virginians must be incredibly PROUD today!  And-- right to work for his constituents, introducing a GI Bill immediately after being sworn in!

Congratulations to the Webb Campaign; Thank you for bringing this talented man back into the public policy arena when he is most needed!  We are, all of us and our country, we are all winners in this respect.
