Quick Commonwealth Hits

Back by popular (?) demand, some hits from around the Virginia progressvie blogosphere:

G求 Regarding this ridiculous controversy cooked up by the right wing blogs - attacking Waldo to distract from Virgil Goode's controversy - see great comments by Kenton and Vivian. I love how the conservatives spend more time attacking the moderator of a blog aggregator for one reasonable editorial decision and virtually ignore continuing xenophobic diatribes of one of Virginia's congressmen.

G求 Regardless, Waldo is changing things up.

G求 More from Kenton, this time on the Republican delegates efforts to get rid of the Virginia Senate.  Seriously.

G求 You didn't think Virgil Goode was forgotten, did you? Of course not! ChangeServant - Goode's law school classmate - unloads:

To today's Virgil, who appears to view all Muslims as born or religiously-made terrorists (regardless of citizenship or religious antecedents) I say, taking a rhetorial turn from his beloved gun rights organizations, the Muslim faith doesn't kill people, people do.

G求 And Sisyphus makes a good point. The Fifth District can show us in 2008 that their views do not mirror those of Virgil Goode. Because, honestly, a vote for Virgil is a vote for his brand of xenophobia from this date forward.

And this is an RK open thread - what's on your mind today?

CAUTION: language, sex (Kathy Gerber - 12/27/2006 9:04:29 PM)
I don't know how I missed this one, and I'm sorry to repeat if it's been mentioned already. Tom Delay started a blog back on December 10. As late as December 20, NYT had an article about it, The Hammer Strikes a Comeback Blow, all rose petals and such.

The group鈥檚 promotional material bills it as a 鈥渘ew force for change inside the American conservative movement, and a staunch opponent of secular progressive pressure groups and radical leftist agendas wherever they may be found in the United States.鈥

For an annual fee of $52, members are promised 鈥渋nsider information鈥 on Congress and 鈥渦pdates on the ways of combating the plans of the radical left and their associates in the left-wing media elite.鈥

A spokeswoman for Mr. DeLay, Shannon Flaherty, said the group was sorting hundreds of applications and would withhold approving anyone鈥檚 membership until 鈥渨e鈥檝e checked the references.鈥 She said the group was concerned that liberals would try to 鈥渋nfiltrate鈥 the group.

It turns out that on Dec 10, or more than a week before the NYT article, Tom's blog was up for 75 minutes and had to be locked down so the comments could be removed. This man is NOT up for Mr. Congeniality that's for sure.

This is where the language and sex come in. James Risser saved a snapshot of Tom's blog including the comments at http://tomdelaydotcom.blogspot.com/

Here's the new and improved sanitized version of Tom Delay's blog.
