Here's a chance to vote for your favorite blog - the 2005 Weblog Awards.  Categories include Best Humor/Comics Blog, Best Podcast, Best Sports Blog, Best LGBT Blog, even Best Asian Blog.  There's even one of Virginia's own blogs nominated in the Best Conservative Blog category...go see which one!  Personally, I'm thinking of voting for World O'Crap (for Best Liberal Blog) just because I like the name and also because that's about the mood I'm in today.  Ha ha.

I'll leave the ranki (KathyinBlacksburg - 4/4/2006 11:27:48 PM)
I'll leave the ranking to others, but given the story you cite (and all the other evidence), it's amazing how the Republican leadership can even look Americans in the eye. Instead of facing up to their failures they unleash a new round of attacks on the rest of us. When all else fails, it's, you know, the old attack our patriotism.  It's evident all  over cable "news."  It's in talking heads pronouncements.  And it's on the blogs, where the clones go after us.  The Republicans are in such denial.

7. Bush as a bad President: Huh? He ranks at about a two for me…above Grant and Buchanan.

If Bush starts drinking again, he'll fall below Grant.  Grant was a better drunk.

What would you guys (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 4/4/2006 11:27:48 PM)

I think Bush is figh (Teddy - 4/4/2006 11:27:48 PM)
I think Bush is fighting the wrong "war." I'll have more to say on this in a longer post later, but, announcing a "war on terror" which he sometimes calls "war on terrorism" is basically fighting against a technique, a method. The poor buffoon is barking up the wrong tree (or pissing off on the wrong tree) and has therefore tasked a very fine miliary with a poorly drafted set of mission orders that basically misses the mark. The unfortunate thing is, the country (including Democrats) have swallowed his framing of the problem, and this ties our hands on coming up with a winning strategy.  They say Democrats don't offer a plan of their own in opposition. Not true; however, the Democratic "plan" also is incomplete because it accepts Bush's mis-framing of the problem.  In my opinion.

1) Initial response (Lowell - 4/4/2006 11:27:48 PM)
1) Initial response was pitiful (1-2?), then I'd say Bush recovered and did quite well (8-9?), but ultimately he took his eye off the ball and blew it (1-2)
2) Absolutely pitiful (1)
3) Defeating the Iraqi Army was easy, and they did that very well (8?), but everything since then has been a fiasco/disaster (1-2?)
4) Not sure what you mean by this, except that they ran an effective campaign (8-9?)
5) They haven't really done much on this issue, one way or the other. If anything, abortion seems to be tweaking up a bit under Bush. (4?)
6) Nothing much on this issue either. (4?)
7) Not sure what you mean by this one.  As far as being a "uniter," I'd give Bush a "1".  As far as being a "reformer with results," I'd give him a "1".

By the way, did you see this poll of historians on the Bush Presidency?  "These were the results: 338 said they believed Bush was failing, while 77 said he was succeeding. Fifty said they thought he was the worst president ever. Worse than [James] Buchanan." Ouch!

Rank 1-10, 1=bad job, 10=good job. And feel free to add more if you like.
