BUSINESS COMMUNITY SUPPORTS WERKHEISER
--Board of Trade Endorses Candidacy-

SPRINGFIELD, VA ? The Northern Virginia business community joined the Greg Werkheiser campaign today with an exceptional statement of support in his race against Delegate David Albo, a twelve-year Republican incumbent, for the seat representing southernmost Fairfax County. The Greater Washington Board of Trade endorsed Werkheiser, a moderate, pro-business Democrat, to be the next delegate from the 42nd district in the Virginia General Assembly.

The endorsement is extraordinary, as Werkheiser is the only challenger running against a long term incumbent to be endorsed this season. In all, the Board endorsed six Republicans and seven Democrats for the House of Delegates.

The Greater Washington Board of Trade is the region?s largest network of businesses. Its members employ 40% of the region?s total workforce. The Board?s Virginia Political Action Committee (BOT-VPAC) endorses candidates who advocate ?investment in higher education, transportation and continued fiscal reform.?

?I am honored by this endorsement,? Werkheiser said. ?Private sector leaders are looking for a Delegate who will confront the significant challenges in our community, including the transportation crisis, unmet educational needs, and rising healthcare costs.?

On the heels of this endorsement, Werkheiser will launch a week-long outreach effort to community business leaders to discuss his pro-education, pro-business agenda for Northern Virginia.

?A common refrain on our campaign is ?Fiscal Responsibility First,?? Werkheiser noted. ?Mine is a vision of investment in essential public services that improve the quality of life in Northern Virginia, and it?s a vision the Board embraced,? Werkheiser said.

In 2001 the Board endorsed Democrat Mark Warner in his bid to become Governor. Werkheiser views Gov. Warner?s bipartisan work with moderate Republicans as vital to maintaining Virginia?s AAA bond rating, growing Virginia?s economy, and earning the Commonwealth?s reputation as the best-managed state in the nation. Delegate Albo opposed Governor Warner?s efforts every step of the way.
