"American Son": Decorated Vietnam War Hero...

...fiercely dedicated son, father and grandfather, accomplished athlete, outstanding military academy graduate, writer, author, quiet but confident intellectual, independent-minded deep thinker, world-traveler, recent Democrat who opposed the Iraq war and spoke out against it prior to its inception, never a sound-bite type of candidate nor a "typical politician", but an amazingly accomplished and impressive last-minute campaign fundraiser.

Sound all too familiar?  No, it's not Jim Webb; it's General Wesley K. Clark, and we can only hope that he will soon formally announce his candidacy for President in 2008.

...to view Wes Clark's 18 1/2 minute 2004 Presidential campaign video entitled "American Son".

Some of you may have already seen it.  Regardless; see it for the first time or see it again - if it doesn't touch your heart and mind and soul, then you ain't a true Democrat.

Forget his lack of political experience, forget an unorthodox campaign style, forget a late start and a few initial campaign mistakes the last time around.

Instead, remember that just like Jim Webb, Wes Clark is the real deal, and it's all about character and leadership.

Jim Webb won the U. S. Senate election because his true character was able to shine through all the opposition's rhetoric, negative campaigning and intentional distortions about him.

On election day, 2006, the voters were able to see through the opposition's blue smoke and mirrors and view the image of the real Jim Webb, and they voted for him.

Wes Clark possesses the same strong character traits and he has those same leadership qualities.  In the end, the voters will not be able to ignore them, and in 2008 they will vote for him, too.

Next year, Wes Clark's new book will be published under the same title as the video; "American Son", and you can read an early review of it at this link:

Wes Clark:  It's all about character and leadership.

Read his new book next year.

Watch the video now.

You'll see.

Thanks!

Those who have only followed Clark via the abbreviated primary campaign in 03/04, or seen snippets of interviews since then, do not have a full appreciation of the man, Wes Clark.  After supporting him since the early Draft Days (and like Webb, he was truly a drafted candidate), I've had many occasions to learn about his life, his character and his abilities as a statesman and a leader. To meet him in person, you'll find a very warm and engaging person, interested in those around him.  The short video, American Son is a good overview of him and will likely spark interest to learn  more.  On his WesPAC website (www.SecuringAmerica.com) you'll find links to many writings, video links to numerous speeches. Yes, he's a dynamic and engaging speaker-watch one or two of these and you'll want to see more.

I'd like to hear from those who may be interested in supporting him on a grassroots level or who would like to learn more about him as a potential candidate.  Contact me at dburroughs@securingamerica.com and I'll make sure you get the information you need.

Thanks, "vadem" - agreed! (cycle12 - 12/6/2006 12:49:50 PM)
In late 2003/early 2004 I enjoyed the honor and privilege of meeting and working with Wes Clark and his son on several occasions and I served as a surrogate speaker for him for a brief time (until he withdrew his presidential candidacy) here in the Roanoke area.

Earlier this year he was back in our area again, working on other candidates' races and, since his withdrawal from the '04 presidential race, he has been an active and avid supporter of Democrats at every level all over the U. S.

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments about Clark's character, warmth and genuine caring personality.

I will contact you about future activities, etc. at the address you listed above.

Wes Clark for President '08!!

Thanks again!

Steve
