I wanted to update this diary in light of a crazy thing I saw this past weekend.

Every Sunday, Thaddaeus Toad and I head out to Ashland for band rehearsal.  We always stop at the big Sheetz for coffe, water, and doughnuts.  I have to tell you, I was mighty surprised to see a small local newspaper on the rack right next the Times Disgrace which bore the headline:

Senate Race in Virginia Still Too Close to Call!
Um...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You know, I may have been hallucinating, but I believe George Allen conceded to Senator-elect Jim webb (D-VA) on Thursday 11/9/06, so I don't know why this would be a headline on Sunday, 11/12/06.

I guess some people really do believe that if you wish it hard enough, it will come true.

Anyway, I went back and looked at the site for the Virginia State Board of Elections, and sure enough, Senator-elect Jim Webb (D-VA) is still ahead, and he is now ahead by more than he was when George Allen conceded the race and stated that he would not demand a recount.

The final count of votes Senator-elect Jim Webb has over Senator George Allen is 8,942 9,326.

This was a tight race, pholks.  Congratulations, Senator-elect Jim Webb (D-VA).  Thanks to all who worked on his behalf.  11/7/06 is a day that Virginians made history.

Ooooooooo, I almost forgot! (phriendlyjaime - 11/14/2006 5:16:46 PM)
Remember (well, DukieDem does, this is new to most of you) on Wednesday when we were at the office, and we started answering the phone "Thanks for calling the office of senator-elect Jim webb, can I help you?"

And that lady was sooooooooooooo pissed...

She goes "You know, he hasn't F&*%$%^ won yet!"

CLICK

Oh my God, we laughed for a while at that too.

Good times, good times.

Um? (drmontoya - 11/14/2006 9:15:27 PM)
Too close to call, we declared victory on election night or early early the next day 1am.

And, then again after Allen conceded.

So, what are people smoking?

I want some of that shit!!! lol.

Its the Times Dispatch- same w/FLS (hereinva - 11/15/2006 10:46:07 AM)
The local paper in the Fredericksburg area: Free Lance Star..
had the headlines "ALLEN CONCEDES"...instead of WEBB WINS !
Given that the FLS editorial group has earned the paper's nickname: Free Lance Slant...and offered a pro-Allen endorsement, not surprizing. If any progressive/DEM wins the big lotto jackpot..please make "owning a newspaper/media chain" a priority on their "to do" list. In the meantime...SHINE-ON RK and web blogs.
