Sebelius/Webb; one entertaining possibility for '08

Oddly enough, there are actually women besides Hillary Rodham C. who could run for President as a Democrat.
Onesuch is Kathleen Sebelius, who was just reelected Governor of Kansas. ...Kansas is a rather "reddish" state, by most reckonings, so we know she has appeal right there.

Sebelius/Obama would be nice too, but having two Midwesterners on the ticket is a little much. If she had Jim Webb on the ticket though, it might help not only to grab Virginia, but maybe even to repolarize the whole South. (Or at least to start that process.)
Too, Webb not only has plenty of experience (Sec. of Navy under Reagan), but also has a Navy Cross, which is a highly respected medal for those of you who don't follow U.S. Marine Corps decorations and awards. He would provide national security "ballast" just like Cheney did for Bush (but better), and would certainly help counterbalance McCain or other war-hero type.

     (more S/W below)
If we're not getting Warner or Feingold, and Vilsack and Biden don't float your boat, maybe Sebelius/Webb is not the very worst possible ticket to consider for 2008...

Super Sister Sebelius, World Wide Webb (David Boyle - 11/12/2006 5:16:09 PM)
  "The real Dynamic Duo."

Sebelius/Webb not quite ready (Hoss - 11/13/2006 12:26:54 PM)
I think that Senator Webb (love the sound of that) would make a great candidate for VP or even President someday.  BUT, I think he needs at least one successful term as Virginia's Senator before he can compete for higher office.  Performance in ELECTED OFFICE is the most improtant measure of a candidate's readiness.

I think that Senator Edwards jumped into Presidential politics too soon.  I would hate to see Jim make that mistake too.

True. Going national means virtually abandoning (Catzmaw - 11/13/2006 1:45:43 PM)
his position in the Senate to campaign -- again -- less than two short years after being elected on a promise of change in Washington.

Change on bigger scale (David Boyle - 11/14/2006 6:16:05 PM)
  as VP is possible...

He can prepare for 2 years... (David Boyle - 11/14/2006 6:15:01 PM)
Hey, Obama is thinking about running!

I know this is going to sound selfish..... (beachydem - 11/13/2006 3:57:13 PM)
I just don't want any of our Senators running for President/VP.  We just squeaked out a majority, and we have so much work to do.

We have so many great Dem governors, so I'm certainly willing to learn more about Gov. Sebelius.  Maybe Mark W. will change his mind by Jan 2008?

Warner might, if people beg him (David Boyle - 11/14/2006 6:15:40 PM)
Maybe that's what he wanted all along...  :D

Great minds... (David Boyle - 11/14/2006 6:21:56 PM)
