An anecdote to warm Webb supporter's hearts

I was raking leaves late this afternoon, and my neighbor, a good progressive Democrat, called me over to talk about the great events of the week.  At the end of our pleasant talk she told me something that I want to share with all of my fellow Virginians who supported Jim Webb's campaign.  Her older daughter lives in Napa, California.  The daughter says that in recent days Californians who know that she is originally from Virginia have come up to her and KISSED HER, because she is from Virginia!

Great to hear! (Barbara - 11/11/2006 10:06:04 PM)
I work in a large organization in DC, with many colleagues living in DC and Maryland.  So many have thanked me that Virginia came through.

Some of us were in the Irish pub near the office after the victory rally and we got a lot of cheers and thank yous from a nearby table.  One young woman was especially excited and grateful for our efforts.

Wear your t-shirt and maybe get some love.  I'll definitely wear my t-shirts around New Jersey over Thanksgiving.  And by the way, lets have a great Thanksgiving!

Wow does that sound bizarre historically. We're still one of the last states to have EZ Pass, which I suppose is the last thing the Old Dominion has to do to re-enter the Union  ;)

I had family in Minnesota.... (ericy - 11/12/2006 12:43:18 AM)

calling me on Wed night after the AP called it for Webb.  He got a lot more publicity given the way that it all came down to the wire - if this race had been settled on Tues night, Webb would have just been one of the bunch.  Given a choice, I guess I would have rather had it settled on Tues night though :-).

I guess I was less worried about a recount since we went through the drill last year, and I had a better idea of what the likely outcome would be.  People from out of state had visions of Florida-2000.

I got a call from my aunt in North Carolina and many from friends at school; what Webb did and what his victory meant caught the attention of a lot of people.
