There still are provisionals

There will be a recount.

It's a MANDATE!

sleep (Arlington Mike - 11/8/2006 3:51:02 AM)
Seriously, incapable of sleep.

Amazing.  I spent 12 hours today walking Arlington, knocking doors, handing out flyers, talking with people at Metro stations.  And at 7pm, I thought, jeeeeeez, I am exhausted, I just want to go home and go to sleep, I want nothing more than going to bed.

And now, I'm wired, wide awake, amazed at what we might've done here in Virginia.  And so excited, hopefully and eager to see the results of what we might've done nationwide.

Thanks !!! (loboforestal - 11/8/2006 3:53:02 AM)
You and everybody else who worked the streets won it !!!
Enjoy !!!

wow (Arlington Mike - 11/8/2006 4:02:52 AM)
Man, you have no idea.  It was exhausting.  My feet hurt, my knee is screaming, my body is tired, my head is throbbing.

But most of all, my heart is soaring.  All those things that have made me believe in Jim Webb, and in Democrats, have never been in a better place.  Our commitment to helping those who cannot do it themselves, to providing opportunity to those who seek it out, to raising our voices in support of those who cannot shout themselves - all those things have made me so excited tonight.  Not just for individual candidates, not just for my home district in New York (NY-20), which tonight elected a Democrat for the first time in decades.  But because tonight, we did our part, nationwide, to help make America the country we believe in, and the country we believe it can be.

Pardon the moment of sentimentality.  This is special.  And I'll tell you, being here in Virginia, potentially working to secure the seat that could make a difference in the Senate, that's special.  it makes me believe so much in what we are doing here with Gov. Warner, Gov. Kaine and hopefully, soon to be Sen. Webb.

RE: Yep. (JPTERP - 11/8/2006 4:09:42 AM)
Great candidate; great cause; great work!  If Jim Webb can secure this one, he's going to be a solid, long-term addition to the Senate.

Make that two us who are still wired.... but I had an involuntary nap (Used2Bneutral - 11/8/2006 4:11:12 AM)
Mike, I was just one of several volunteers that drove one of the roving and circuit Sully-Dems vans in Fairfax for 14 hours straight yesterday.  It was great working with a "Flushing" squad of 9 great college kids and then also helping feed and toubleshoot for all our precinct helpers in my assigned territory. Even though I could sit for most of this, it was still exhausting enough that I couldn't safely make any of the parties.... I came home and sat in a chair just for a minute and closed my eyes.... 4 hours later I woke up to this adrenaline pumping group of in-somniacs..... But I must say, things are a lot better than earlier when I passed out around 8 PM!!!!

turnaround (Arlington Mike - 11/8/2006 4:22:02 AM)
I have to say...

I was skeptical today.  I was worried things weren't organized.  That it was too chaotic, that no one knew what to do, where to go, how to make it happen.  And in the end, with where it stands now, the Webb team put out so much heart, so much passion, so much belief in what it would take, that it helped to get it done.  That just blows my mind.

This, I cannot repeat enough.  Seriously, this point, at 3am, it rings in my mind.  And will do so for a long time:

Six months ago, very few people knew Jim Webb.  Three months ago, very few people believed in Jim Webb.  They told us Webb supporters that Jim wasn't a real Democrat.  Or that he wasn't the right man for Virginia's values.  Or that he had no shot as Allen prepared for his coronation.  They were convinced that Webb didn't have what it would take, to reach out to voters and help create change for Virginia and America.

In the end, Jim Webb, and his rag-tag band of volunteers, passionate followers, believers and supporters, helped make this happen.  In less than a year, a man of honor, integrity and essential and valuable experience went from being a novelist and former SECNAV to not just a candidate, but a leader.  And while Jim has been a leader his whole life, I'm so excited to have witnessed this journey and the exciting result that seems so close.

I have to say, when I first started reading RK, I was pretty skeptical.  Was it preaching to the choir, did people here understand the world outside RK, could we actually have a shot in convincing those who didn't get the "blog world" to support Jim?  The way people here created something pretty special, well, my hat is off.  Truly amazing.

Thank you Virginia! (Hopeful in NJ - 11/8/2006 3:51:41 AM)
I was proud to donate to Webb, and happier still to see that your hard work has paid off again!

Food for thought (madgranny - 11/8/2006 4:05:56 AM)
and I would like to hear yours on this...Bob Cesca over at huffingtonpost said......"However, if the margin remains in Webb's favor, do you really believe Allen will call for a recount which could further expose some of his campaign's electoral foul play? Just sayin'"
