Shameless and Utter Bullshit

Republicans tell lies with more CONVICTION than Democrats use to tell the truth.

Out of pure frustration, watching the election coverage, I had an epiphany while sneezing and reflexively barking "bullshit" at the same time.  As the races tighten and the news coverage turns to Party pundits, it is breathtaking to hear the level of shameless and utter bullshit that flies out of Republicans mouths while the corresponding Democrat responds with weaker but truthful retorts.
For example, Republican's are now using the vaunted "Home ownership is at an all time high" which is the same as bragging our population is at an all time high.  Home ownership has never, not been at an all time high, not even during the Great Depression.  The population increases and home ownership increases accordingly and never goes down.  They are just shameless.

Now I realize this is mastering the incredibly obvious but there is a finer and important point to be made.  In the midst of my epiphany/sneeze, the following came spiraling out of my head:

Republicans tell lies with more CONVICTION than Democrats use to tell the truth.

And too many people believe in conviction rather than the truth.  Lyndon Johnson warned us:

GǣWhat convinces is conviction.  Believe in the argument you're advancing. If you don't you're as good as dead.  The other person will sense that something isn't there, and no chain of reasoning, no matter how logical or elegant or brilliant, will win your case for you.Gǥ -- Lyndon B. Johnson

We have too many Democrats who just assume if they tell the truth, they don't have to think about how they deliver that truth, while Republicans are fully engaged and committed in their lies.  They know they are lying so they know they really have to sell it to get it over on people and too many people buy it.  We have to start delivering the truth to people with the same CONVICTION.
