Today's Richmond Times-Dispatch has Russ Potts blasting Jerry Kilgore on immigration.  This is classic, as it highlights the intra-Republican Party split not just on immigration, but also on the right of local jurisdictions to run their own affairs.  Here's what Potts has to say:

[Jerry Kilgore's] policy clearly aims at dividing Virginians along racial boundaries...Kilgore's attempts at division are not only morally wrong, but also violate the spirit of federal law and the rights of local governments to regulate local activities without interference from the state.  Jerry Kilgore has said that he trusts the people, but it's obvious that only applies to those people who agree with him.

Great stuff.

By the way, if Jerry Kilgore is so concerned about "illegal behavior," why doesn't he clean up his home town of Gate City first, where a 37-count felony indictment was just issued in a voter fraud case?  Also, why doesn't he look at his OWN ticket, starting with his running mate Bill "Gutter" Bolling, former high-ranking executive at the Virginia-based Reciprocal Group, an insurance company ?whose executives were found guilty of Enron-like fraud?"  Perhaps Kilgore can get Bolling to explain how the $770 million in unpaid claims when Reciprocal went belly-up didn't "financially devastate thousands of doctors and lawyers as well as many hospitals across the country that relied on it for their malpractice insurance.?  I can't wait to hear the answer to this one!
