That's damning as hell.  Let's spread a little grease to make sure we get our seat.

A terrific ad for Tammy (Catzmaw - 11/2/2006 4:01:43 PM)
But I'm wondering why we aren't being as aggressive about picking up the woman's vote for Mr. Webb. Here he's praising the efforts of a military woman, and the canard on him in Virginia is he wants to keep us all out of the military.

We aren't? (Lowell - 11/2/2006 4:30:33 PM)
We just had a great Women for Webb event the other day.  We've got some amazing Virginia women on the stump for Jim.  Both Jim's wife and oldest daughter blogged for him.  We've got great ads on TV with women. We had a superb endorsement event at HQ with leading military women.  I'm not sure what more we can do, exactly.

It's probably too late to point out (Catzmaw - 11/2/2006 9:51:04 PM)
the complimentary things Webb said about women in that article (someday there will be a woman president; love Maggie Thatcher, my female students are so smart, etc.).  All I know is that I was talking to my son's physician assistant tonight, a nice middle-aged lady, who saw my ever-present Webb sticker (I wear one every day, and a button on my jacket), and asked whether the two candidates weren't pretty much the same.  I asked what's the problem.  Women and Webb, she replied.  A lot of women, including this one, think Webb had something to do with Tailhook.  I had to tell her he was a private citizen, AND point out that the dates on the two quotes Allen uses are late 92 and 1996, and that the ads are deliberately constructed to make it look like he was the Navy Secretary and said these things when Tailhook happened.  NONE of our ads put this information right and I'm telling you, women are assuming he was in power and said these things contemporarily to the scandal.  Why aren't we answering more thoroughly?  Why aren't we running down that lovely list of Allen's missteps on women's issues that was handed out at the Women for Webb rally?  We're not reaching enough of them.

"Funny"... (libra - 11/3/2006 12:02:22 AM)
As a non-earning person in our household (housewife), I don't have a whole lot of discretionary funds and, as a rule, do not contribute to political causes, limiting myself to things like Doctors Without Borders and Unicef. But, this year, I changed my habits, turned the screw a bit tighter and contributed to Webb. Then I sent some more (and my husband admitted that he, too, contributed twice, the darling ), 'cause the need was great.

And then... I decided to sens some to Tammy, on the day the first poll showed Webb a little ahead, and Tammy was fighting like hell against that moron, Roscam (who's now trying to assassinate her by lying about her position on Social Security).

So I was delighted to see Webb's ad on her behalf; great minds think alike (sez she, modestly ) and maybe my litle bit will help her air it.
