See here for more on a newly-released report by the Center for Investigative Reporting that documents contributions George Allen received from judges just before he initiated support for their confirmations.  Whoops!

Isn't this typical of George Allen and his close friends?  Just another day at the office- money changing hands.

BTW, Chris Cilizza has listed George Allen's campaign among the "Ten Worst Campaigns Run by Incumbents" with this comment:

Sen. George Allen (R): No candidate was nominated for worst-run campaign by more members of our informal panel than Allen.

Is it the campaigners, or the candidate?  How does one put an attractive face on someone with a non-existent Senate record?

Why does this surprise anyone?

The Virginia Republican Caucus appointed one of its most prominent fundraisers to the Court of Appeals of Virginia last session.

In doing so they overlooked one of the top Circuit Court Judges in the Commonwealth, the former top appellate litigator in the Commonwealth, and a judge who the seat had been repeatedly promised to because it was a Northern Virginia seat.

These guys have no qualms whatsover about putting their cronies in judgeships.

Now you've ruined my evening. (Catzmaw - 11/2/2006 11:52:28 PM)
People need to understand that this was one of the most bald-faced grabs of the judiciary around.  Hundreds of lawyers signed a letter protesting the whole mess.
