Sen. John Kerry...Insults the Military AGAIN!

By: alex schultes

Upon his return from Viet Nam, Lt. John Kerry USN insulted the hundreds of thousands of Viet Nam veterans with his disgraceful and untrue allegations. As unbelievable as it seems, Kerry was never under oathGǪnot even when he testified before Congress. Worse yet, he has never apologized for his slash and burn attacks on AmericaGÇÖs fighting men and women.

Now Senator Kerry has once again insulted AmericaGÇÖs finest. While nobody but Kerry really knows what he meant, his arrogance and North East elitism surely comes through. Again, he refuses to apologize.

I find it amazing that his comments of a couple of days ago have failed to be addressed on Raising Kaine. Unfortunately, we donGÇÖt know what impact his GÇ£foot in mouthGÇ¥ disease will have on Democratic prospects on November 7th.  What we do know is that he is toast with regard to another presidential run. It would serve Democrats well to distant themselves from him...many (thankfully) are already doing so.

ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 4:37:22 PM)
IT ISN'T BEING TALKED ABOUT EXCEPT FOR MY DIARY ON WEBB'S RESPONSE BC EVERYONE ELSE IS TALKING IT TO DEATH!

Kerry can't tell a joke; so WHAT?  The President can't do SHIT!

Let me ask you; what good does this diary do for JIM WEBB in the VIRGINA SENATE RACE?

Daily Kos has about 18 million diaries on this right now; we don't need them here.

/end rant

Alex, you need to wise up. (Bubby - 11/1/2006 5:51:30 PM)
The Whitehouse just handed Jim Webb his favorite topic for the final days of the campaign - Iraq, and the folks that are fighting it.  Forget John Kerry.  George Allen has been avoiding Iraq - now the Press is asking about Iraq.  This is a gift.  Smoke if you got 'em (and get your head back on straight).  We have work to do.

ALEX- (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 5:53:23 PM)
Troll rating me is ridiculous.  I didn't troll rate you when you said I post "endless dribble."

If you think I am a troll, you haven't been around much.  Additionally, you are abusing the system, and you are being incredibly immature.

KERRY.  ISSUED.  AN.  APOLOGY.

Move on and get out the vote, already.

Phriendly (alex schultes - 11/1/2006 6:13:49 PM)
I seriously don't know what troll rating is. I have written in to this site maybe 7 times before. If I have done something to offend you, my apology.

Just delete the entire diary (Bubby - 11/1/2006 6:23:38 PM)
It is more heat than light anyway.  Lets move on.

Is everyone stupid (Gordie - 11/2/2006 12:18:10 AM)
John Kerry called George Bush stupid and the White House was too stuoid to know he called them all stupid and now I hear all this ranting about Kerry. Here is a guy who can not give a punch line and messes up a joke, but his Right now ressponse should charge up the Democratic Base. Are you all too stupid to understand a gift when you get it. The White House responce was a gift, if you fast writers and thinkers can get the self pity out of your heads that Kerry should not tell jokes.
Come on now lets get the positive jucies flowing. You all know you can punch back better and faster then any Repuiblican, just get ride of that political correctness.

The other day it was said on TV that "Indian Summer" must now be called "Native American Summer". Are we all going to lay down and die or are we going to throw this political correctness out the door and bring in "Common Sense".

No problem (phriendlyjaime - 11/2/2006 8:24:03 AM)
I'm over it.  :)

Great Point (alex schultes - 11/1/2006 6:23:03 PM)
Never thought of it that way. Great point! Thanks

Okay, so Kerry's an idiot whose (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 4:46:02 PM)
verbal ineptitude in this instance may have reached Dubya levels. So what?  Why are we still talking about this?  Can we please find something that actually MEANS something to talk about, like the Bush administration ceding control over our military to Maliki and by extension al-Sadr when our guys were searching for their lost soldier?

How exactly is this an issue in Virginia? (Loudoun County Dem - 11/1/2006 4:48:20 PM)

Unfortunately.. (drmontoya - 11/1/2006 5:10:33 PM)
Allen and the F team are making it an issue.

We can't just sit back and be silent.

And the RNC just released an Tv ad today.

Not to mention, it will be all over the MSM today.

Webb's Words (drmontoya - 11/1/2006 5:18:45 PM)

At 60, Webb has a lot in common with the voters he think s he needs. He grew up a Democrat, left the party when it turned against the Vietnam War, embraced the GOP in the Ronald Reagan era, and now - angry about the war in Iraq and Bush administration economic polices - is a Democrat reborn.

"If the Reagan Democrats will come home, both parties are going to change," he said

It's not and it deserves deletion. (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 4:52:39 PM)

I am promoting it. (drmontoya - 11/1/2006 5:06:43 PM)
Please read my comment below friends, this is for the veterans who still pain over vietnam and those of my brothers and sisters who will come back wounded from this war.

My take.. (drmontoya - 11/1/2006 5:05:39 PM)
I respectfully disagree with my fellow friends and bloggers on this issue and support this diary.

We can't run away from the Kerry issue. It IS an issue. The RNC is already running an ad against us.

Kerry's comments have made even Jim Webb distance himself from Kerry.

This is an issue, because Allen's F Team is already blogging about it.

Come on, your not going to allow Allen's F Team to beat us us are ya?

This is an issue for Virginia, it's an issue for EVERYONE who's ever served or is serving.

Kerry comments are a disgrace. He may well be a hero, but his "botched joke" is going to make him the joke for the second election cycle in a row.

We need to condemn Kerry's comments, move on, and kick Allen's ass.

But we can't silence our bloggers.

Veterans stand strong on this.

It is an issue... (alex schultes - 11/1/2006 5:45:42 PM)
Phriendlyjaime... Just because you don't want to discuss it doesn't make it less important. I have read your endless dribble on other sites. Let some others have a little space.

Loudouncounty... There are thousands of Veterans in Virginia. There are many Veterans like Jim Webb, myself and others who were Democrats, turned Republican, and are now turning back to the Democratic Party. John Kerry's stupidity threatens this migration.

drmontoya... Thanks for your comments. My writing the Diary was to provoke some thoughtful dialogue. Unfortunately, there are those who wish to stick their head in the sand rather than recognize that Kerry's comments have done harm to our efforts this year. Proof: Look at the coverage and the Republican frenzy.

"endless dribble"? (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 5:49:06 PM)
You simply miss the point.  You do not see the elephant in the room.

This is the point I am making.

You and others wringing their hands about this and screaming that "the sky is falling and to stick a fork in us, we are done, Kerry ruined it" are doing exactly what the GOP wants.  You are letting them define our party and our elections.

Excuse me for wanting to concentrate on winning this election.

Yes, endless dribble... (alex schultes - 11/1/2006 6:04:15 PM)
Phriendlyjaime...You don't know me. I do not wring my hands and scream and I don't let anyone define our party and our elections. There are those of us who are working just as hard as you to win this election. We just are not as visible and vocal. So get off your damn high horse!

Yes, Kerry apologized. Finally, after the Democratic leaders forced him to. Unfortunately, the Repubs will keep this in the news for a couple more days. THAT, ms. phriendlyjaime, was the point of my diary...that it was a distraction.

ALEX- (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 5:55:09 PM)
Are you seruiously trollrating everyone who disagrees with you and giving YOURSELF excellent ratings over this?

I have no idea... (alex schultes - 11/1/2006 6:05:32 PM)
I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Your points have some validity (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 6:08:45 PM)
but continuous arguing over Vietnam is about as productive as discussing the Late Unpleasantness Between the States.  Everyone has a different take on it.  It's not really productive to call other posters' work "endless dribble".  There's plenty of space for everyone, so why don't we calm down and admit everyone has a point, but that the goal in the end is to elect Jim Webb, a man who somehow manages to appeal to and inspire great devotion in people from widely divergent points of the political spectrum.  I think most vets who were initially put off by Kerry's stupid comments will realize that it's not in their best interest to base their votes on this nonsense. Everyone, let's get back to work.

He was talking about BUSH, not the military (beachmom - 11/1/2006 5:33:19 PM)
You are WAY off base.  See Webb's comments to realize this is most certainly a nonissue in this race, and the Bush WH are trying to manufacture a drama, so that we don't talk about the botched war in Iraq.

So true (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 5:41:35 PM)
Webb said today it's between Kerry and Bush.  He's not interested in getting into a stupid argument about whether or not Kerry should apologize for a verbal gaffe, and he pointed out that he didn't get into it over macaca or the n-word or anything else this year.  As far as he's concerned he's following his own policy, which is to stay out of meaningless verbal fisticuffs.

Here's everyone's apology. (phriendlyjaime - 11/1/2006 5:39:06 PM)
http://www.cnn.com/2...

Now move on.

Hey,, Jamie (KathyinBlacksburg - 11/1/2006 6:46:06 PM)
I think you're the best.  But I think we're all a little touchy right now.  Obviously, the corporate media is going to stir things up, especially now that CNN and MSNBC are trying to do all politics all the time until the election. More time for their mischief.

They always do.  So will Allen.  That's all he's good for.  And Allen not only has the lie a day, but a new dirty tactic or trick a day.  But I think we all need to "chill."  And you are right, we need to move on.  There's work to be done, calls to make, and houses to canvass.  Oh, yes, and blogging in between.

Meanwhile, watch Olbermann tonight (8 PM Eastern).  There's another commentary in the works!  If you're phoning (as I will be, you can get the text on the msnbc website under "shows" and then "Countdown."

EVERYONE!!! (drmontoya - 11/1/2006 6:27:40 PM)
Listen, I love am a moderate. I left the GOP because they have NUTS in that party. I love my liberal friends, especially jaime! but, we got to come together here.

Even if we don't talk about this, Kerry is ALL over the news. I think those of us who write diaries about kerry's comments aren't the problem.

Let us write our diaries. I don't always agree with everyone elses diaries.

Kerry made a mistake. Everyone has admitted it.

Now, right let's move on. but let's not censor anyone, for anything.

Now, let's move on. NO one should have to defend Kerry's remarks now. He's apoligized.

SO let's go kick some ALLEN butt!!!

Ooorah!

What's Your Background Big Boy? (Rick O'Dell - 11/1/2006 10:21:06 PM)
What war did you fight in?  Did you get up front, and see the enemy eye-to-eye like Kerry and I did?  Or, were you in the rear with the gear?  I bet you slepped your way out of service in some prep school.

No man of honor dishonors his fellow combat vet.  Kerry never has no matter how you seek to misconstrue his statements.  To dishonor a combat veteran speaks poorly of you.  Remember the real men like Kerry earned the right to talk the talk.  After all, they walked the walk when other were too afraid to do so.

Show no quarter.  Suffer no fools and take no prisoners!
