Election Day Challenge!

Over the past 3 days, I dropped campaign literature for Jim Webb and Congressman Jim Moran in 3 neighborhoods (over 980 homes/apartments) in Northern Virginia, where I never saw a single yard sign or bumper sticker of any kind.  The few people I talked to had never received any literature at their door before, from either side and barely knew there was an election.  These were high Democratic performance / low voter turnout neighborhoods.  It was really pleasant weather but I was like "What the hell's going on here?  Don't these people know there's an election? Don't they know the fate of our planet is hinging on the US Senate race and that race is narrowing down to Virginia?"  Anyway, the votes are out there, we just have to go get them.  Please make sure you are phone banking and lit dropping like crazy between now and Tuesday.

Who will see my 980 doors and raise me?

Todd I'll see your 980 doors... (Bobby - 11/1/2006 1:37:58 PM)
as I and the Young Dems here at UMW are going out this weekend, and raise you the over 1,000 GOTV phone calls I made the last days of the primary.

Excellent!! Great Job (Todd Smyth - 11/1/2006 2:57:47 PM)
That's what I want to hear. I'm actually wiped today but am recovering for this weekend.

Lit Dropping (FormerRepublican - 11/1/2006 2:29:30 PM)
Ok, I'll admit it.

I've been meaning to help, but with a full time job and school, I havent. In my defense however, I've given Webb the max amount of money I can. Hopefully I can find some time on Saturday to go out and burn some shoe leather for Webb....

This weekend is critical! (Todd Smyth - 11/1/2006 2:47:19 PM)
Door hangers are being placed on every Democratic door with date, times, polling location address and other critical info. Sunday is the big day in my district. Contact your local Democratic committee or campaigns for what's going on in your area.  Here is a list of all Virginia Dem web sites:

Bumper Stickers and Yard Signs (jackiehva - 11/1/2006 3:20:25 PM)
I've seen very few of either in my area (20165).  I've tried to find a couple of bumper stickers and yard signs.  I even went to the Webb campaign online store--delivery time is a week!!!  I've seen no mailings and received no phone calls from either candidate's campaign team--not that any of this will make a difference.  I'm voting the Dem. ticket this time.

I'm in 20165 as well... (Loudoun County Dem - 11/1/2006 3:30:08 PM)
...in Lowes Island and I am delivering yard signs tonight. We have had a hard time getting enough yard signs and have tried to get them in the most high traffic areas first (along algonkian parkway and at key intersections). Since I live at the end of a dead end street I have put my signs on my second story deck which faces a busier street.

We have been passing out bumper stickers but I guess folks haven't been putting them on their cars (I have suggested taping them inside a window if you don't want one on the bumper), many people around here have high priced rides so I somewhat understand the reluctents to put a sticker on their car (I have to admit that the cursed W stickers look nicer than an average bumper sticker - now I have to go wash my hands after typing that...).

BTW, sign up for a yard sign at lcdems.com... (Loudoun County Dem - 11/1/2006 3:46:05 PM)
...and we can get one out to you if you're not already on the list or write me at twnty1inrf at yahoo.com ...

Signs and Stickers (jackiehva - 11/1/2006 5:52:32 PM)
They seem to be in short supply so I'll just make one for my car's rear window.  Keep the yard signs for Algonkian Parkway--all our neighbors ARE voting for Webb.

Jackiehva, I have saved signs for you if you want them... (Loudoun County Dem - 11/1/2006 7:43:27 PM)
...just drop me a note at twnty1inrf at yahoo.com (I have bumper stickers as well).

You can have Webb and Feder...
