What the hell?  I thought Laura Bush was supposed to be the nice one, the reasonable one, the popular one in the Bush family?  What on earth is she talking about here?

P.S. Maybe Michael J. Fox will have something to say about this when he comes to campaign for JIM WEBB tomorrow evening in Arlington. Ha!

No One Is Nice (Jon-Phillip - 11/1/2006 9:01:53 AM)
You certainly can not expect a woman to be nice when her husband is about to be made irrelevant.  The knives are out!

Also, I do not understand why this is not framed more simply.

Young Man has devastating illness.  Because of that illness he advocates for a cure.  Advocating for that cure includes supporting politicians, Republican and Democratic alike, who also feel finding a cure is important.

Simple as that.

America has been fooled (Gordie - 11/1/2006 3:32:10 PM)
A sweet smile goes a long way in this country. It fooled the Media and 75% of the country. She never fooled me. I have my own words for her but they are not appropraite here. Her true colors showed in the '04 election and have just gotten worse. She may have been a beautiful person at one time but being married to a jerk will change almost anyone.

Also (Jon-Phillip - 11/1/2006 9:06:53 AM)
This is very interesting.

A week ago I noticed that when you googled Jim Webb, the Allen banner ads where gone.  This morning I noticed that when you google George Allen, NOW the George Allen ads are gone!!!

Does this mean that they are retreating, husbanding resources (I mean running out of money), so they can focus on TV--the only thing that could possibly save them at this point.

Considering that the DSCC just dumped more than a million bucks for than the Republicans did and that Webb is out raising Allen . . . it is a distinct possibility going into the home stretch Webb has more resources than Allen!!!

Very cool if true

I've heard the Allen campaign is running out (Lowell - 11/1/2006 9:09:00 AM)
of money.  In contrast, Webb is flush with cash.  Did anyone predict this a couple months ago.  MAJOR credit to the Webb campaign for running a first-class operation, as far as I'm concerned.

Amen (Jon-Phillip - 11/1/2006 9:31:13 AM)
I am surprised that blogisphere is not taking more credit on this.  Considering that the incumbent Ds dumped twice, TWICE as much cash into the committees bank accounts than the Rs (10 MILLION).  One can only assume that one factor was the pressure from DK and TMP and other blogs

We've raised a LOT of $$$ over the internet (Lowell - 11/1/2006 9:39:26 AM)
For instance, Jim Webb is now #1 on ActBlue, with $836,395.99 as of this moment.  Overall, we've probably raised half our money online. Not bad, if I do say so myself. :)

PS  I wonder how much money Allen's netroots coordinator, Jon Henke, and his "A-Team" boys have raised online...

Scary... (Kryndis - 11/1/2006 9:11:55 AM)
I didn't watch the video (I'm at work), but I can see the still shot.  Is it just me or does it look to anyone else like Laura's been hanging out with the Joker a little too much lately.  I'm afraid the next thing we hear about her will be her daring museum heist.

I digress, but . . . (Jon-Phillip - 11/1/2006 9:28:12 AM)
Lets make this the story:

BUSH IS LETTING A FOREIGN LEADER CONTROL OUR TROOPS!!!

THIS IS BIG, why are the Ds not pouncing on this:

"The New York Times leads with the Iraqi prime minister ordering the U.S. military to lift its blockade on Sadr City, which is seen as an attempt by Nuri Kamal al-Maliki to assert his independence from the American forces. U.S. troops seemed to have been caught off-guard by the demands but later went ahead and lifted the checkpoints"

THEY WERE LOOKING FOR A US SOLDER WHO HAD BEEN KID NAPPED AND MALIKI IS NIXING THE OPERATION

THIS IS F-IN' HUGE, HOW CAN BUSH LET THIS HAPPEN!?

That truly is amazing. (Lowell - 11/1/2006 9:30:47 AM)
I also thought it was fascinating the other day that Bush all but conceded defeat in the "war on terrror," predicting that the country would be hit again ("I think so").  Wonderful.  So the battle in Iraq is serving WHAT purpose exactly?  Please remind me again, since it's obviously not to keep us safe here in America.

Its our job (Jon-Phillip - 11/1/2006 9:33:58 AM)
to post this tp all over, so hopefully it will be picked up.

BUSH IS SURRENDERING COMAND AND CONTROL OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY TO A FOREIGN LEADER.  DESPICABLE.

Why don't you write a diary on this? (Lowell - 11/1/2006 9:40:02 AM)

If you want to have some real fun (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 3:40:55 PM)
run over to Townhall.com and post to some of their columns about this.  They're obsessing about Kerry apologizing while Bush is allowing foreigners to order our troops around.  I've posted a couple of comments and hope to get time to do more.  Also, I think a few LTEs would be in order.  So much for stay the course.

I agree with Laura Bush. (Kathy Gerber - 11/1/2006 10:43:38 AM)
That's right.

It IS easy to manipulate people's feelings.  That is exactly what her husband is doing right now.

Check this video out:
http://www.alternet....

Sullivan notes that the elite Republicans have no problem with gay marriage, but use homophobia to fire up the base.

The point?  Hypocrisy.

Right now the Republicans are so desperate that GWB held a series of contrived "rallies."  Among his negative points - gay marriage.

Issues, issues, issues..

In a desperate move, the Republicans who made it a priority to attack John Kerry for serving his country, are now attacking John Kerry for stumbling over his words in an admittedly clumsy fashion.  John Kerry is not running for office.  Macaca man is.

Issues, issues, issues..

October 2006: 103 dead soldiers.  Dead.

To add insult to injury, whacked out homophobes stir the pot by mocking their funerals.
http://www.thepittsb...

And there's a funeral being held today.
http://wcco.com/loca...

Halloween or not, on the last day of a month in which 103 Americans died serving this country Bush spokesperson Tony Snow was too focused on trying to spin Kerry's faux pas to take this very seriously.  Can we get some grown ups in Washington, please?

Kerry's response is worth reading.  And he DOES take the sacrifice our troops are making seriously. Here he is in December 2004, behaving appropriately at the funeral of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Dimitrios Gavriel.

PS - I agree with folks in the other thread for real. (Kathy Gerber - 11/1/2006 11:01:12 AM)
This is NOT about John Kerry.  This is about hypocrisy and taking the sacrifices of our young people seriously.

Posting transcripts of Fox event (presidentialman - 11/1/2006 1:30:26 PM)
I was wondering if we could get the transcripts of that rally up here for those who can't attend?

Theme of bush Administration (norman swingvoter - 11/1/2006 1:39:47 PM)
This is the theme of bush-cheney-rowe.  Reality has absolutely NO meaning.  Manipulating the feelings of a segment of the US population is what this administration is the absolute master at.  If bush-cheney-rowe had a 1/100th the ability at fighting wars as it does at manipulating the feelings of certain people, we would have won the Afghan and Iraq wars years ago.
