The Potomac News (Prince Wiliam County) gives one of the strongest endorsements to Jim Webb that I've seen.  There doesn't seem to be current link on their web site, at least not one I can find.  If anyone can find it pleast post it.  It's great.  Otherwise, please buy the paper.

What does it say? (Lowell - 11/1/2006 8:31:30 AM)
Thanks.

Potomac New Endorsement (Barbara - 11/1/2006 8:58:26 AM)
"Webb is right choice for Senate"

"Virginia needs a senator who will serve the people of the commonwealth and not someone who submits to the will of the president, his party and any special interests that may have corrupted both.

Virginia needs a man like James Webb serving in the US Senate and he earns our endorsement to replace Sen. George Allen, whose blind loyalty to President Bush should not be rewarded with a second term in office.  It should be noted that while this newspaper may support the President in many things, we do not admire blind obedience to party or party leader and do not belive that serves the interests of Virginians."

It goes on to say the election is not about name calling and notes "It is possible to be loyal to one's president and nation and still challenge his desires."  "It is possible to serve your constituents...if you occasionally question your party leadership.  All too often George Allen did none of the above."

They say Allen adopted a "don't rock the boat" position throughout his Senate term because he was blinded by his ambition to run for national office.  "That goal is now in shambles."

It wraps up saying "...Webb is in a much better position to be loyal to Virginia.  ...by electing James Webb to the US Senate, Virginians will be rewarded with his loyalty to the people, not to higher levels of politics."

It's a very long editorial run under a nice picture of Webb.  Wish I had time to type it all.  Hopefully you can find a link.  (I have no way to FAX you a copy.)

Thanks Barbara! (Lowell - 11/1/2006 9:04:00 AM)
