Wes Clark will join Michael J. Fox in a GOTV rally with Jim Webb on Thursday.  Clark has been traveling the country non-stop since Labor Day to help Democrats get elected.  In advance of Thursday's visit, I wanted to share the ending of a speech he gave to a large group of Democrats in California.  The same words are spoken to all of us and are particularly important just 7 days out (I count election day)
Read on and prepare to be even more motivated.
Following an extensive speech, Clark ended with these words:

The GENERAL shares a MILITARY LESSON

The last thing -- I want to relate my military lessonGÇöI spent a lot of time out in California. I was twice out at the National Training Center out at Fort Irwin. I spent a lot of time in the desert. We did a lot of maneuvers out there, and we watched why people won and why they lost... We used to bring formations of battalions of brigades... thousands of soldiers out. And we would fight them in the battle equipped with lasers and position location devices, GPS... and we would fight against the similarly equipped Soviet-style force. And for some reason... usually, mostly... the Soviet style force would beat the American force! Even though the American force had newer equipment... it had supposedly higher quality officers, more elite officersGÇöthey usually got their you-know- what kicked out of the Mojave desert. The Generals would stand on the hilltops, and theyGÇÖd look through binoculars, listen to the radios, and theyGÇÖd sayGÇöGÇ£Why are we losing?GÇ¥

And after I was there for about nine months, it finally occurred to meGÇöIGÇÖd seen by that time a couple of hundred of these battles, and IGÇÖd say we were losing like 90% of them-- with the best officers and leaders in the Army. And I finally realized the difference was that it wasnGÇÖt what the Colonels said or did that was winning the battle... They could lose itGÇöbut they couldnGÇÖt win it. The winning was done by the soldiers themselvesGÇö The soldier driving the tank, laying the tank gun, fixing the tank in the middle of the night, making sure the fuel truck got there, actually copying the order, the man who knew how to set the frequency on the radio--- Not the guy wearing all the brass and all that stuff who was up there with the fancy briefing and hollering in a microphone!! He could lose the battle. But he couldnGÇÖt win it.

Ladies & Gentlemen, weGÇÖre in a battle for this country. Right now. 2006. ItGÇÖs not about 2008, itGÇÖs about 2006. The encroaching national security problems are so great that you CANNOT DARE think, GÇ£WeGÇÖll just get through this 2006 election and see who the candidates are for 2008GÇ¥. It wonGÇÖt work. ItGÇÖs NOW. Right now--- And this battle wonGÇÖt be won by Lois (Capps), it wonGÇÖt be won by Charlie Brown, it wontGÇÖ be won by Jim Webb in VirginiaGÇötheyGÇÖre not gonna lose it-- but itGÇÖs only gonna be won by you all, YOU!!- the Democratic party. ItGÇÖs YOUR election. YOU. You must win it yourselves. YOU must win it!! Really! (wild applause)

Our candidates are great candidates. But without YOU GÇô they canGÇÖt win it. So IGÇÖm here tonight to ask you to help change America. Now. Change it now GÇô 2006-- before itGÇÖs too late. Give us a government that will truly protect the rights and liberties we believe in as Americans. Give us a government that will steer a sensible course in National security. Give us a government that will look after the rights and welfare of every single American regardless of race, color, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, it doesnGÇÖt matter. You have the power to give us that government. Please. 10 days left before this election--

Stand up for America. Stand up and do your part for this great country
