Stark story now online at the Pilot

here

for what it is worth, LaCivita says none of three were "employed" by the Allen campaign.  But they might well be unpaid volunteers, given that all three were wearing Allen buttons or stickers.  I am not employed by the Webb campaign, but if I bodyslammed an Allen supporter or a Webb critic while wearing my veterans for Webb t-shirt methinks people would hold the Webb campaign responsible.

That reaction by La Civita tells me the Allen campaign knows it has a problem and is trying to distance the campaign from what happened.

They Better Not be Lying... (DanG - 10/31/2006 11:40:08 PM)
If they're lying, they're dead where they stand.  Seeing as I've already heard from people otherwise, I think an investigation of sorts is deserved.

Webb hubris thought...Allen in the right (presidentialman - 11/1/2006 4:01:40 AM)
This story along with spitting on first wife unseal divorce case what's he hiding, bothers me.

Mark Foley is a great example of why we should know our elected officials' personal lives. Allen's wife spitting on first wife thus he should unseal his divorce records is a great example of why elected officials should have some rights, because it reasons, in the real world private couples who divorce have their records sealed. Its proper procedure.  Which leads to this new incident with the heckler.  I agree that how Allen officials and fans handled it badly but the incident in itself is like after the Columbine shooting when the NRA decided their annual convention would be held in Columbine, where Charlton Heston could say the "cold dead hands" speech to a community that was still traumatized by the shooting and is angry over the NRA trying to bully their way into town.  There's a sence that The hecklar guy was asking for it and he got what he deserved. Especially since he tried this tactic several times before. He knew what he was doing. Its not like Blacks being beaten in Selma for seeking the right to vote-a right that should've been their's from the start.  And if we push this I have a sence it could backfire on us. Sort of that myth about flying too close to the sun.

Remember Dan Rather and the national guard story. One who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it.

General fighting Allen I have no problem with.

Why George 'Maccaca' Allen Wont Get My Vote (FormerRepublican - 11/1/2006 7:47:38 AM)
Why send him back?

NO Border Security in THIS country
NO Immigration Reform
NO Social Security Reform
NO Health Care Reform

Instead, he wants to call people racist names, complain about passages in books he admits he never read, prance around in cowboy boots, and plan his 2008 run for the White House.

Allen likes to proclaim he's from the 'Real World of Virginia' when in fact He Is a Nut Job from California.

Send Him Packing....I'll support a decorated VetNam Vet like Jim Webb ANY DAY over a pretender like Allen.

Allen campaign press release ... (siegead - 10/31/2006 11:42:36 PM)
The Pilot article doesn't cover a very interesting aspect.  AP reporter (http://www.jacksonvi...) Bob Lewis had this paragraph:

"In a news release, Allen's campaign described the incident differently. The release contends Stark "aggressively went after Sen. Allen ... screaming that he answer inappropriate questions." Allen's campaign said Stark pushed an Allen staffer. "Later, volunteers restrained him (Stark) and asked (him) to leave the building when he approached the Sen. a second time, asking inappropriate questions.""

* "Aggressively went after" ???

* "Stark pushed an Allen staffer." ???

* "Later, volunteers restrained him ..."

* "asked (him) to leave the building ..."

This press release does not comport with the video that I've watched ... yet again, the Allen campaign seems to be saying things that are not supported by video recordings ... Hmm, could we say that, yet again, they're caught lying.

NOTE ... (siegead - 10/31/2006 11:44:43 PM)
While there might have been a press release, it does not seem to be on the George Felix campaign website.

News Clips (Gordie - 11/1/2006 12:03:20 AM)
With dial up I can not watch the film on the blog, but what I saw of news clips, Stark was going forward trying to ask questions when an Allen person steps in front of him to block him. Yes he walked into him, but that would not have happened had not some one stepped in front of him. To me that is not pushing a staffer.

LaCivita lying? (JPTERP - 10/31/2006 11:52:33 PM)
http://www.washingto...

"Dan Allen said Stark pushed him as Stark tried to approach the senator and Sen. Elizabeth Dole (D-N.C.), who was campaigning with Allen. 'He did it in a very menacing way,' Dan Allen said."

Dan Allen, no relation to George Allen, is an official campaign spokesman according to the Washington Post.  Based on one of these stories it sounds like he may have been Tom DeLay's former spokesman.  Quite a resume.

I wonder if he's doing this as part of a charitable contribution.

RE: Dan Allen (JPTERP - 10/31/2006 11:58:39 PM)
Got this lead via Waldo's blog.  The Hook is reporting that one of the people involved was in fact Dan Allen, who is with the Allen campaign.

RE: Still trying to confirm (JPTERP - 11/1/2006 12:34:40 AM)
Dan Allen DOES work for George Allen's campaign.

It's an open question if he was one of the three guys doing the pushing and shoving.  I'm still trying to confirm this.

http://hotlineblog.n...

"As for the recent reports of an Allen campaign staff shakeup, Wadhams argued that reportedly "new" staffers Dan Allen, a member of the media consulting firm run by Scott Howell, and former Allen Chief of Staff Jay Timmons have both had a "presence" in the campaign for months. "If they're new, they sure have been around a long time," said Wadhams."

Maybe they fired him.... why not?? only 5 days left and losing (Used2Bneutral - 11/1/2006 8:56:00 AM)
That way they can assign the blame and use his firing as damage control.... and they don't have to talk about his actions in their minds because of HR reasons..... Nah !! they aren't smart enough.....

I don't know that he was one of the three that assaulted Mike but... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/31/2006 11:54:00 PM)
The short balding guy who tried to block Mike in the beginning of the CNN tape looks like the same dweeb who kept blocking Roadette when she was tracking Allen a couple of weeks ago (using the same moves)...

And -- re video ... (siegead - 10/31/2006 11:54:58 PM)
The Washington Post really wants to downplay this, it seems. They link to a far different video than most other news organizations.  This one does not have the "start" of this, where Allen staff are clearly starting the confrontation. Nor, does the Post-linked video have Mike being pushed to the floor.

Purposeful distortion???

Yes, I'm very disappointed at the (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 12:46:28 AM)
"liberal" Washington Post.  As far as I can see they haven't been liberal since 1976, but whatever.  Their story made it sound as if Stark could have criminal charges, let alone said anything about the unprovoked nature of the assault.

Yeah, the "liberal" Washington Post (Lowell - 11/1/2006 6:54:58 AM)
which endorsed Bob Ehrlich for Governor of Maryland, Frank Wolf and Tom Davis for Congress, and even the independent candidate over the Democrat in the Arlington School Board race!  Yeah, very liberal.  Hahahahaha.

Wasn't that the guy the Tracker Roadette (Catzmaw - 11/1/2006 12:03:56 AM)
nicknamed Doofus who was blocking Stark's approach to Allen at the beginning of the tape?  There weren't that many guys there.  They all appeared to be accompanying Allen.  They were acting as if they had some sort of authority.  Would love to know who these guys are.

Mike Stark Video (vote-left - 11/1/2006 12:39:09 AM)
Best version of the Mike Stark video I have seen so far.

This one STARTS with Dan Allen pushing... (Loudoun County Dem - 11/1/2006 8:10:38 AM)
...Mike INTO the lobby where he was attacked...

This just keeps getting worse for the Allen thugs...

Great Video (thegools - 11/1/2006 7:24:23 PM)
That guy was assaulted.  Although he was being unrefined in his manner of asking the question, it was clear that they were in the intimidation game with their man-handling.

He should press charges.

They wouldn't have half the problem they're going to have (thoughtcr1me - 11/1/2006 12:47:14 AM)
if their reactions, in order, weren't always: deny, bluster, partial-admission-laced-with-denial-when-they-realize-there-is-videotaped-proof.

More republican bullying (vote-left - 11/1/2006 12:59:01 AM)
At 0:42 - 0:45 through the video, Mike says, "What do you know?"

The right-wing abuser responds, "I know you're a punk."

It is another classic example of the George Allen bullying, calling innocent people a "punk."

The republicans think they are far superior to democrats and now that they are becoming unhinged, it is really showing.

Bob Gibson;s Account (Gordie - 11/1/2006 8:32:26 AM)
U.S. Sen. George Allen, R-Fairfax County, spoke at a Charlottesville rally of his supporters Tuesday and then watched as it ended with a law student being wrestled to the floor by Allen supporters.
Allen was walking with Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., toward an Omni Charlottesville Hotel lobby after their upbeat campaign speeches when University of Virginia law student Mike Stark approached him and loudly asked if he had ever spat at his first wife.

In case some do not know "Allen spits tobacco juice on women's shos"

I've Seen One of the Attackers before (wagonball - 11/1/2006 9:31:28 AM)
The young guy in tan suit, I saw him this summer at the American Legion meeting in Richmond.  He was travelling with Allen, wore a Tan suit with over priced cowboy boots and carried a football.

BTW, the incident with the long footage was all over the morning news shows in Richmond this morning.

Too bad Kerry stuck his foot in it, we might have made the national moring shows as well.

National News (Clemgo3165 - 11/1/2006 2:33:05 PM)
We DID make the national news this morning!  The footage was played in the first few minutes of the show just after the Kerry footage was played.
