Truly staggering incompetence

I just saw a report on CNN that 490,000 weapons (semi-automatic pistols, rifles, machine guns) are MISSING.  And the Inspector General's office says they could be anywhere, even in the hands of Iraqi insurgents.  Today, also on CNN, I saw various Republicans chant in unison, belaboring a phrase, asking sneeringly "Do you want to win this war?" and implying that anyone who questioned the administration was part of a deliberate effort to lose the war.  Well, gentlemen and ladies of the administration, I now ask you "Do YOU want to win the war?"  And do you intend to "win" this war you got us into by losing control of 490,000 weapons paid for by the American taxpayer and now, maybe in use against our brave soldiers, 101 of whom have died this bloody month of October...and still one more day to go.
Tell me what you define as winning.  Tell me how incompetence of such staggering proportions can win a war?  You couldn't rescue people sweating and dying in New Orleans.  You are miserably failing our troops in Iraq.  Tell me why you deserve, by any stretch of logic and imagination, to keep control of a governmental process that you dishonor.  Government is not the problem, as you so often say.  You sirs and madams are the problem.  Away with you to Coventry.

They also said (lwumom - 10/30/2006 8:18:56 PM)
that only 3% of the serial numbers of those weapons had been recorded.  So there's virtually no way to trace them.  And who was it that voted against oversight on government contracts in Iraq?  Oh, yeah, George Allen!

Don't forget Tom Davis (totallynext - 10/30/2006 10:22:11 PM)
Last I check - he has authority for this kind of stuff two.  Government reforms committee - kind of runs the gament of oversight.  What has been done, nada, nothing.
