Rasmussen: 51% Webb, 46% Allen

Thanks to Ken C. for sharing this information:

I have a "premium membership" and the news is very good! To quote: "Challenger James Webb (D) has taken a modest lead over Senator George Allen in a Sunday night survey. The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows Webb with 48% of the vote to 46% for Allen. When leaners are included, it's Webb 51% Allen 46%."  Seems to line up very nicely with the DSCC numbers.  Now, let's GOTV and "seal the deal"!

Exactly, keep your focus Webb supporters and work like we're 2 points behind.  Do NOT let down, even for one minute.  GOTV!!!  Thanks.

Not letting up for a minute! (Kathy Gerber - 10/30/2006 6:19:03 PM)
Lowell - just a note before I get back to work.  Gordie and I were just at the Rally in Newcomb.  What an inspiration this experience was.

And cameras, TV - local and CNN - everywhere..

I feel terrible that I don't remember the name of the president of UVA Dems :| - she was great!

Speakers were Creigh Deeds, Al Weed, Max Cleland, and Jim Webb.  They were all wonderful.

Well, I don't have the proper words for it all. And when Jim asked was Siddarth here, it was real, you know?  Just taking care of his people - not some fake stage stuff.

And there was Siddarth with his back pack and all just like the rest of our students.

I love Max Cleland.

Well, we got a much needed 4x4 sign while Greg Kane was too busy to argue with us :)
Now you give us this good news with the polls.

I have to go back to work.

Make the numbers the reality on the 7th! (Ken C. - 10/30/2006 6:20:17 PM)
As Lowell says "Exactly, keep your focus Webb supporters and work like we're 2 points behind.  Do NOT let down, even for one minute.  GOTV!!!"

None of this matters UNLESS OUR PEOPLE SHOW UP!! Work like we are down 5%, because you know Felix is not letting up.  A “wounded animal” is the most dangerous of all; the only remedy is to finish it off!  Let's GOTV and finish Felix off!!

Allen's "VERY UNFAVORABLE" NUMBERS ON THE RISE! (Ken C. - 10/30/2006 6:31:30 PM)
Rasmussen observes that Allen's VERY UNFAVORABLE numbers have risen over the last week from 31% to 36% in the latest survey! I guess attacking books after shopping the story for weeks was not such a good idea after all. NOW GOTV and "SEAL THE DEAL".

ALLEN LOSING GROUND WITH HIS BASE AND INDEPENDENTS (Ken C. - 10/30/2006 6:52:37 PM)
Scotty R. also observes “Allen has lost ground among Republicans and unaffiliated voters”.

This makes Felix especially dangerous; clearly wounded he will lash out with the full fury of Rove on meth! Make these numbers a reality on the 7th! GOTV!! Run like we are down 5%. Run like our lives depended on it!!! That just might be the case! Jim must win and we must get control of both houses of congress to stop the madness!!!! KEEP ON PUSHING!!

Gotta love the cartoons! (mkfox - 10/30/2006 6:37:02 PM)

Thats nice, Now..Back to Work. (hereinva - 10/30/2006 6:51:31 PM)
Phone calls, leafletting, more phone calls, more leafletting...sign up volunteers to work the polls, get more volunteers to work the polls, have nieghbors put up  signs in their yards, arrange for rides to the polls.

Keep your eyes and ears open and stay on your toes. The only poll that counts is the one on November 7- Election Day. Like Lowell said..its all about GOTV.

This is very good news! (lwumom - 10/30/2006 7:01:03 PM)
I'm so proud of y'all!  Keep up the good work!

Glenn Greenwald has an excellant post for Webb (totallynext - 10/30/2006 7:08:54 PM)
Glenn Greenwald  - Unclaimed Territory http://glenngreenwal...

has an excellant post today regarding how Webb is a serious National leader.

Lowell - you might want to make this one a headliner post.  Glenn is really really smart - he does excellant analysis of the issues.

It's definitely excellent. (Lowell - 10/30/2006 8:39:17 PM)
I strongly recommend it!

Let us hope the trend holds (thegools - 10/30/2006 7:12:30 PM)
I for one will do my part.  Any students out there interested in helping NVCC tomorrow?  Let me know.

F--- yeah! (Greg - 10/30/2006 7:17:11 PM)
But let's not let up. We've got to keep this trend running through 7:00 PM next Tuesday.

I'm sitting here in my hotel room in France watching CNN Intl. (Used2Bneutral - 10/30/2006 7:39:14 PM)
They show this clip about how the Republicans use all these different data bases to efficiently find their constituents.  Data bases like magazine subscriptions, certain types of luxury cars registered, etc. etc. ... then they interviewed one of the people by phone they identified as a Republican and he says, "maybe previously, but not this year !!"

I'm so excited as a Virginian living on the west coast, and it's hard to believe how well (walkabout - 10/30/2006 10:30:20 PM)
Webb is doing1  He will only make it because some of you are working like demons.  Thanks so much!  I am incredibly grateful.  Keep going! We need this thoughtful and capable candidate as a senator.

CNNpoll -- Whaaaaa? (libra - 10/31/2006 12:42:53 AM)
Blessed be you, thegools (and may you never need Viagra ).

Here I was, *cautiously* happy because of the Rasmussen poll... The Dem one I could "blow" (be still, my heart ), b/c... well.. it's partisan. Then Rasmussen comes out with the same margin, which is confirmation enough for me, though I agree with Lowell -- we have to ignore it and act as if we're a few points behind. Indeed, given the MEO, 4-5 points difference is *not enough* to overcome the possible side effects of Diebolding. 8 points ahead is the minimum we really need to feel "somewhat secure"...

At the first glance, the CNN poll doesn't look any better than the Rasmussen one -- the difference is still only 4 points. BUT...

This is the first time -- since the race became truly competitive -- that either of them has hit 50%... And it was *Webb* :)))  I'll visit my headquarters tomorrow ("Always on Tuesday" -- a Lexington remake of the famous Greek film ) and see if they have any grunt work for me, but that's the best news I heard in a *loooong* time.

I think, perhaps, Virginians are reacting to the scurrillous (spell?) attacks charging that we're intellectual midgets, who do not read and who dislike those who read (or write!) Bush ran on an anti-intellectual "platform" -- people who voted for him thought they'd like to have a beer with him (not unless you can contribute at least 10K, buddy ).

Allen thought that the same "platform" would serve him also... But it looks that the "platform" is more of a "plank" (as in: walk the plank). It seems that Virginians would sooner have a *discussion* than a beer with their representative; it seems that we're able to appreciate someone who has more than two grey cells ratling around under a 10-gallon hat :)

7 more days...
