Jim Webb: Not afraid to be politically incorrect

I happen to believe that George Allen's attacks based on Jim Webb's novels will backfire. That said, let's look at their intent. That line of attack was designed to turn out base Republican voters. These are the kinds of people who think that banning books is ok. They are the kinds of people who think that Harry Potter should not be in public libraries. These people are out there, they exist, and they just got some motivation to go to the polls. Portraying real life in fiction is repugnant to them. Let's not pretend these voters do not exist. They do, and they are by and large Republicans.

So how do we counter it? By doing what the right does - employing meaningless buzz words and catchphrases. So how do we answer these attacks? Repeat after me: "Jim Webb is not afraid to be politically incorrect."
The idea of political correctness is something the right has been able to use to it's advantage. How? They accuse Democrats of being politically correct. All the time. They've done it for years and years and years, particularly on talk radio. It has been drilled into the minds of the Republican base. Never mind the fact that often when a Democrat is being "politically correct," that Democrat is just being accurate. Nevermind that it is a meaningless term that reminds me of nails on a chalkboard whenever I hear it. Let's turn it against them.

Jim Webb is not afraid to be politically incorrect. Say it loud, say it proud.
