Caveat emptor on the sources in this diary!

Here's the title I wanted to use.  But it doesn't fit in the Title field.

Is Gail Parker Quitting the Senate Race in Order to Team Up With Joseph Oddo's Republican Boss, Global Businessman and Potential Independent Candidate for President Daniel Imperato?

There are really several relevant points or possibilities.
1) that Joseph Oddo in the 5th is indeed a conservative,
2) that Gail Parker's agenda, if indeed she has one, may not be obvious, and
3) that the goal of the IG's may simply be to disrupt and spoil the process.

Gail Parker's agenda matters in a close race, hence if she has unstated motives it would be useful to know what they are.

Joseph Oddo, the independent green candidate in the 5th district will only get a few votes for himself, that much is clear.  But what Oddo chose to emphasize in the debate with Weed and Goode raised more questions than it answered.  He was passionate in saying that he was the real conservative in the debate.  Oddo used much of his time advocating for independent candidates, and he mentioned Gail "for rails" Parker a number of times.
There does to be a little more to this than meets the eye. Independent candidate for President 2008, Daniel Imperato, was a Republican last year (more below).  From Boca Raton, Imperato is interested in Global Mastery.  His running mate was Webster Brooks, but on October 16 Imperato issued this statement Imperato For President 2008 Releases Brooks and Refocuses on Campaign Finance

Conaway Haskins has an interesting diary on Webster Brooks.

The Oct 18 google cache shows Gail Parker listed as a potential 3rd party candidate for President in 2008

She dropped off the presidential candidate list in the last week or so, but Daniel Imperato remains on the list and seeks a new VP.

Here's Imperato's bio blurb, but to get a better sense of him click Global Mastery:

Daniel was born in Boston, Mass (1958), and began his business career in 1977 transforming the manufacturing facilities in Israel through adapting them to the global marketplace along with bringing financing to the factories for global expansion. Daniel brings over thirty years of experience in global business planning and development and has personal relationships at high levels around the world. He is currently a Papal Knight with honors from the Vatican, was a board member for the African Center Foundation, a United Nations NGO, and the founder of Imperiali Organization (www.imperiali.org). Presently, he has organized a Presidential Committee in order to organize support for a run at the White House in 2008.

Just last year Imperato was an active Republican. From the articleDaniel Imperato to Attend Emergency Meeting and Join President Bush for Dinner in Washington DC

May 15, 2005 -- The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that Daniel Imperato of Florida has been invited to attend an Emergency Meeting of the Business Advisory Council in Washington, D.C. Mr. Imperato will be giving input and recommendations on social security, the Energy Cost Crisis and Immigration while in Washington. Mr. Imperato will also attend the President's Dinner, on June 14th joining members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and other Republican luminaries.

Mr. Imperato serves as an Honorary Chairman on the NRCC's Business Advisory Council. The Business Advisory Council is a small prestigious group of conservative businessmen and women who have joined together to advocate a progressive, conservative, pro-business agenda.

Currently, Daniel Imperato is a global business consultant with relations in over 70 countries around the world and over 30 years of international business experience. In addition to consulting with businesses around the world, Mr. Imperato speaks at many business functions, universities, and organiztional meetings around the globe most recently giving lectures to the SCIA (Southern California Investment Association), The Andreas School of Business at Barry University, Florida Atlantic University, and Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Joseph Oddo is the 5th district candidate for the so-called Independent Greens. If you go to http://www.pressbox.... and search for Oddo, you will find that Joseph Oddo works for Imperato. At least he did in March 2006.

From that article:

Chronicling their plan for a peaceful prosperity in the 21st century will be freelance writer/political activist Joseph Oddo. Chairing the campaign team will be Dan Mangru, an organizational expert. Heading up the field operation will be Joshua Yager, who will begin the petition process as determined by each state 's criteria.

Mangru states, "We know that many Americans share the vision of this team in their heart. Now rather than settling for what the political establishment offers, they can confidently cast a vote for their rights, their freedom, and to reestablish the United States of America as the global leader. People that haven't voted for years will find a reason to because this team arrives independent from shady influences that corrupt the political process in Washington."

Joseph Oddo, author of the upcoming book adds, "We are giving Americans an opportunity to quietly and confidently vote their conscious. Votes can trump money when it comes to influencing legislation. And now with the first legitimate independent choice since Ross Perot, we are asking people to not even pay attention to the millions that will be spent to influence their decision. Instead get involved with us in your community. Help us close the gap of unchallenged races by running for office. Then proudly cast your Independent vote for victory in November 2008.
"The empowered citizens of this independent America will all prosper, yielding more time to participate in their child's education. An informed citizenry can shape decisions made in their local governments. Decisions that affect their lives much more so than those made at the federal level. No longer will our enlightened citizens settle for the unaccountable representation that comes with unopposed elected officials. As a determined alternative, the Independents will challenge for every seat up for election, and welcome the accountability to the people who elect them. "
The historical vehicle for this drive to victory for Independents is the Imperato/Brooks campaign for the White House. The blueprint will be unveiled in the upcoming book entitled, "Independent America ". They are welcoming new members to their team now, and beginning to select a team to head the government agencies. Their cabinet will consist of the most qualified individuals GÇô not those whom are owed a political favor. "We saw what happens when our guard is down and unqualified individuals are overwhelmed by a natural disaster. Too many America lives are at stake to allow this incompetence to continue," added Carey Campbell, chairmen of the Independent Greens of Virginia and a supporter of this new team.
"Voter input is being solicited now for the text," Oddo concludes. "E-mail me to complete a survey. We welcome your response, and are counting on you GÇô the American people GÇô to make us an Independent America once again".

I can't figure this all out but did want to show that all is not as it seems among the various Independents.

I can't figure it out either but I do know that true fiscal conservatives are blasting the GOP and many are looking for a home, sometimes plain registered as independents.

I think Webb should just endorse the light rail, it's a plain good idea, and hope for the best.

The reality is Webb is a much stronger candidate for fiscal conservatives, especially those sick of the corporate lobbyists' corruption destroying the US and writing legislation.

Usually they hate current trade policy, because it's not true free trade, it's corrupt as hell (see trading Nukes for Mangoes and people ala George Bush and India) and they are having heart attacks over the pork and budget deficits.

They usually aren't too thrilled about DoD no bid obvious fraud, waste, corruption with Iraq either.

I frankly at this point am shocked as to why fiscal conservatives and progressives who agree on many of these issues just plain don't join forces.  The differences are becoming mute in comparison to the mutual desire for policy changes.

I agree - and don't forget influence peddling (Kathy Gerber - 10/28/2006 6:21:36 PM)
to go along with the
  pork
  deficits
  fraud
  waste
  corruption

Whatever view a person has on taxes, that is the reality right now. We're entitled to get something for the taxes we pay.
