How can Republican Bill Colvin be trusted with the job of collecting taxpayer dollars when he has been less then honest with Stafford County voters about his past?  Mr. Colvin's own website, http://www.billcolvi... , says, "Experience counts: I have dedicated my career to ensuring all levels of government serve the taxpayers efficiently and effectively..."  If that is the case how does Mr. Colvin explain this?  When he was Inspector General for NASA, Bill Colvin resigned his post after his own agents turned him in for a variety of violations relating to a major investigation his office was conducting.
It turns out that Bill Colvin was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1983 to the post of NASA Inspector General.  He served from 1983 - 1994 before resigning amid allegations of violations related to a major sting operation he was involved in at NASA.  He claimed that he had retired, not resigned.  Mr. Colvin was the subject of an investigation requested by former Senator John Glenn (D-OH) and current Senator Carl Levin (D-MI).  The GAO report, http://www.gao.gov/c... , discusses Mr. Colvin's prenotification of senior NASA employees who were targets of impending Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigations, unauthorized disclosure of grand jury-related information, and premature closing of selected audits and investigations.

Bill Colvin is deceiving local Stafford County voters of his true record.  Questions are currently swirling on whether he has been using County employees that are on the clock to campaign with him, as well as himself campaigning on taxpayer time.

Mr. Colvin is up for special election as the previous Stafford County Treasurer passed away earlier this year.  As such, Mr. Colvin became interim Stafford County Treasurer.  The Stafford County Board of Supervisors has called for a special election to fill the remaining 1-year term.

With numerous questions and allegations that have arisen from investigations dating back as far as 12 years ago, this writer is left to ask can this man, Bill Colvin, be trusted with the Treasury of one of the fastest growing Counties within Virginia.  Further, why is it that the MSM (in particular, the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star and the Stafford County Sun) missed this bombshell story.  Somebody with a moderate degree of curiosity could have discovered this by simply Googling "Bill Colvin NASA."  Those keywords are provided on his website at http://www.billcolvi... .
