Kilgore Campaign in an "Epical" Struggle

Gotta give credit where credit is due, and Hunter Kurtz -- NOVA field director for the Kilgore campaign -- has been doing a great job as far as I can tell.  I'm signed up for most candidates' e-mail lists, and for months now I've been practically inundated with detailed, action-oriented, volunteer-recruitment messages from Kurtz about phone banking, fairs, canvassing, and other events for Jerry Kilgore.  Of course, I hate to see all this positive activity for Kilgore, who I strongly oppose, but still, it's exactly what a field director should be doing.  So, "hat's off to Hunter Kurtz!"

Having said all that, today's e-mail was both revealing and funny.  First, the revealing part:

Last Sunday marked the beginning of the final 100 days of the campaign and the race is getting tighter. Many of you may have seen the Mason Dixon poll, which has Kilgore and Kaine in a dead heat.

So, the Kilgore campaign is basically admitting that the race is tied.  Unless, of course, they're just saying this to motivate their supporters.  Strange motivational technique, though, to fire up Republican troops by pointing out that Jerry Kilgore has fallen from a lead in the polls to a "dead heat" (actually, down a point - 38% to 37%) with Tim Kaine!

Second, here's the funny part:

I appreciate the help you have giving and epically  appreciate the work you will give over the next 98 days.

"Help you have giving?"  OK, that's probably just a typo, but it still sounds funny.  What I REALLY like is the phrase, "epically appreciate the work you will give."  Is this a tip-off to how difficult the Kilgore campaign thinks the next 98 days will really be?  As in, a struggle of "epic" proportions -- like the Battle of Stalingrad, perhaps?  The question is, who's the Russians and who's the Germans in the ongoing Battle of Virginia?

PS  In another sign of how tough the Kilgores must see their race against Tim Kaine, they sent out an e-mail this afternoon touting the fact that Jerry Kilgore's wife Marty "today joined her husband?s campaign and announced plans to campaign across Virginia in a full-time capacity."  My question for Marty Kilgore:  will she be debating for her husband as well as campaigning?  Also, will she be campaigning in Virginia or WEST Virginia?  Just curious...

Geoff:
While I agree with your points (political and grammatical), those who point out the mistakes of others should be especially careful to avoid making similar ones themselves; e,g., "Jim and tom," [Tom], "cretans" [cretins], "illerate" [illiterate], "Regan" [Reagan].

We are praying for a (Pansy - 4/4/2006 11:27:24 PM)
We are praying for all the voters in Ohio that have "I support the Troops" magnets on their vehicles to put up or shut up. Amen

Well, Jim and tom, l (geoff - 4/4/2006 11:27:24 PM)
Well, Jim and tom, looks like your... uhhh... education(?) really shines through in your prose.  Before you go attacking "liberal" educations, you might want to make sure you're using proper English and correct grammar (or spelling for that matter).  Just a thought.  Also, you might as well go ahead and quote Limbaugh's show verbatim if you're going to raise the exact same points as he.  Or at least reference him, you plagiarist.

P.S. Thanks for making the point that your party (at least the cretans on the web who represent it) are illerate morons.  So I'll let you go now, back to hating Clinton, convincing yourselves that liberals were at fault for our Vietnam loss, and that Bush is the greatest president ever.  Besides Regan, of course.

Looks like the limba (Lefty - 4/4/2006 11:27:24 PM)
Looks like the limbaugh kool aid drinkers are not too happy....a politician that served and speaks the truth...kinda hard to handle??? and he did not have to play dress-up for his photo op...it was REAL!

Why won't Hachett(jo (tom - 4/4/2006 11:27:24 PM)
Why won't Hachett(job) show his true colors? Hachett uses Bush on his ads but douse not let you know that, he really think Bush is an S.O.B. Hackett(job) favors more taxes and big goverment. Why won't Hachett (job) come out and tell you how liberal he really is. Because Dem. and liberal will not win the election for him.Where do you get off as(s)uming you Libs have all the smarts. Maybe from you college Lib-brain washing.Strong defense. HAH!!! You libs have not guts. You would rather try to understand our enemy that take it to them. Whimps!!!!

I saw Hackett's tele (JIm Roberts - 4/4/2006 11:27:24 PM)
I saw Hackett's television ad.  If you have to lie like that to win, it pretty sad....  Why can't liberal just be honest with themselves and the people?

I swear I'm dealing (geoff - 4/4/2006 11:27:25 PM)
I swear I'm dealing with idiots.  Did you think to look at my "errors" in context?  For example, how did "tom" write his name?  And why is it that all my "errors" are in the paragraph directly addressed to right wingers?  Hmmm.

I'm not sure what I fear more, those who cause death and destruction or those who keep voting for it!

Just thought I would (Impulsedoc - 4/4/2006 11:27:25 PM)
Just thought I would point out something funny. The free poll here asks who has the stronger ticket. A Dems website asking which party has the stongest ticket...hummmmm. You want to talk about drinking koolaid - the Dems koolaid is spiked so damn bad, they are drunken with anger and denial. They just dont know when they are beat. Just like a drunkard, never knows when to quit, and denies that what he is doing is wrong.
Someone in Ohio wrote, "If Hackett comes within five points of Schmidt, it?s a proven blueprint." For what? That you can lie and get close to winning? When will you Dems learn? Be who you are! Isn't that what the gay section of your party tells all of us to do? Hell, they live up to it, why can't the rest of you? Affraid you might be rejected or disowned? You can only lie for so long. People aren't as stupid as you hope them to be. It is time for you fools to realize that the nation sees your party for what it is and is firmly rejecting it, this election is continued proof of that.
