Bush=Allen

This photo from late yesterday, courtesy of the AP's Charles Dharapak, pretty much sums it all up.  As much as George Allen desperately tries to claim that the hasn't voted 97% in lockstep, rubberstamp with George W. Bush's disastrous policies the past six years, there they are together, just 2 1/2 weeks before Election Day.  What more do you need to know?  Here's the bottom line.

*If you love Bush and think things are going great in the country, then vote for Allen.

*If you don't love Bush and think it's time for a change in this country, then vote for Jim Webb.

Yes, it's that simple.

By the way, I love how Allen is trying, after 6 years of following his master, George W. Bush, in everything...desperately trying at the last minute, when he knows he's about to lose the election, to pretend he's a Born Again Independent.  Well, sorry George, but it isn't working.  Here are the words of George W. Bush last night, with George Allen standing loyally by Master's side:

They would have our country quit in Iraq before the job is done.  That's why they are the party of cut and run. We will fight. We will stay. We will win in Iraq.

I presume that George Allen stands behind his master, George W. Bush.  Right?  Doesn't he?  He has for 6 years, why change now?  Hmmmm...

Bush=Sherwood Too; Does Anyone Think Bush Has Any Shame? (PM - 10/20/2006 7:21:01 AM)
BUSH

From Dana Milbank's article in the Post today:

During National Character Counts Week, Bush Stumps for Philanderer

***
So it has come to this: Nineteen days before the midterm elections, President Bush flew here to champion the reelection of a congressman who last year settled a $5.5 million lawsuit alleging that he beat his mistress during a five-year affair.

"I'm pleased to be here with Don Sherwood," a smiling president told the congressman's loyal but dispirited supporters at a luncheon fundraiser Thursday. "He has got a record of accomplishment."

Quite a record. While representing the good people of the 10th District, the married congressman shacked up in Washington with a Peruvian immigrant more than three decades his junior. During one assignation in 2004, the woman, who says Sherwood was striking her and trying to strangle her, locked herself in a bathroom and called 911; Sherwood told police he was giving her a back rub.

Milbank's noted the President's disengenuous use of the word "distract":

The president otherwise kept his talk in the comfortable realm of terrorists and taxes. "As this campaign gets closer to the stretch, you will hear a lot of rhetoric and a lot of partisan charges coming from the other side," Bush warned. "Their goal is to distract you."

The nature of the accuser's allegations -- she said Sherwood gave her "facial lacerations, bruises about the head, neck and other portions of her body, head injury, injuries to her teeth, mouth and gums, back and neck strain, injuries to her scalp" -- makes it more than a distraction. Sherwood continues to deny abuse after reaching the secret settlement.

So--what are Allen ideas? (PM - 10/20/2006 9:19:17 AM)
"John Warner and I discuss this . . . almost daily," Allen said, adding that a sudden withdrawal would "leave our country much less secure." Asked whether he agreed with Bush's "cut and run" statement, Allen said, "I'm not going to get in an argument here about the president's words versus my words."

He added: "The president has his ideas on Iraq, John Warner has his and I have mine."

Let's see... (Left Wing - 10/20/2006 9:22:47 AM)
First he went with Bush's ideas, the Warner's.  He ripped off Dick Durbin's ideas.  Is the man not capable of having his own ideas?  (Rhetorical question!)

Creepy is a Mild Word (Gordie - 10/20/2006 9:45:37 AM)
The pictures displayed here certainly are not a Wonderful cast of Characters and they go far beyond creepy. I can not figure out how any party including the Republican Party could indorse a cast of Sleeze bags.

Ladies and Gentlemen what is displayed here is part of our Government. The Government I want to "Cut and Run" from. No more sleeze bags, slimy perverts in our Government. Throw the true "cut and runners" of our constitution out of office, along with all the Lobbist in DC. At one time I believed we needed Lobbists, but they are so corrupt we need to change our government from the top down and all the corrupt baggage that is paying them off and keeping them in power.

This November I am looking forward to a large buch of WONDERFUL new faces in DC and my main prayer is they clean up our Government and let the chips fall where they fall.

Enough soap boxing, I got to go put up more signs.

"As you may know, most states now use electronic voting machines, which rely on computers to record and count all the votes cast on election day. How likely do you think it is that technical problems created on purpose by computer hackers or people working for political candidates will cause a significant number of these machines to produce inaccurate results on election day? Do you think that is very likely, somewhat likely, not very likely, or not likely at all?" Half sample (MoE ± 4.5)

Virginia Voting/Re-count (Gordie - 10/20/2006 10:08:09 AM)
I was always glad of the opitic scanner voting machines and the paper trail we have in Nelson County. I was convenienced the Recount of Creigh Deeds election which he lost by 300 votes was a fair recount.

Saturday, Oct.14 I had a rude awakening. From a reliable source at the Nelson County Dinner I was informed of how that recount was done.

Some how/some one decided that to do a recount on these voting machine is all they had to do was check the paper tapes that count the votes. It was felt that to look at the actual ballots was a waste of time. All that had to be done was make sure the person writing down the figures wrote the correct numbers. For some unknown reason it was assumed the person/persons who program these machines would not put in a virsus type program to alter the election. These machines are programed at the state level and then sent to each polling place. It is believed that no one in VA would do what was done in FA or OH. When I heard that I was totally amazed and let down that any one could be so trusting of an atmosphere that is corrupt in ever way possible. As long as we are human there will always be one amoungst us who is not on the same ethical level as the rest of us.

Although I am not a computer programmer I have worked repairing and trouble shooting this type of equipment and worked close enough with programmers, I am quite aware of what can be done to corrupt a machine such as these. It is one reason I only favor the Opitic sanner type machines, but if we have people in power so naive to not do a job properly when recounting, no system will ever be good enough.

Get involved with Virginia Verified Voting (vavv.org) (thegools - 10/20/2006 10:59:35 PM)
Even if all the ballots were optical scan paper in VA, which most are not, there is no provision in the law to allow for the actual re-counting of paper ballots that do exist.

There are bills in the state-house to:
1. require verified hard copies for every vote cast,
2. random audits (limited re-counts) every election to guaruntee election accuracy year to year, and
3. provide provisions for what exactly to do (I.e. actually recount the ballots) when an election is contested.

That's worth another thousand votes for Webb.

Spread it all over NOVA, and it will be worth (Lowell - 10/21/2006 7:22:37 AM)
a lot more than 1,000 votes.
