Bill Clinton vs. George W. Bush

Tomorrow, we'll have dueling Presidents in Virginia: Bill Clinton for Jim Webb, and George W. Bush for George Allen.  Who's more popular, Clinton or Bush?  According to a poll conducted for CNN in May 2006:

...a strong majority of respondents said President Clinton outperformed Bush on a host of issues.

[...]

Respondents favored Clinton by greater than 2-to-1 margins when asked who did a better job at handling the economy (63 percent Clinton, 26 percent Bush) and solving the problems of ordinary Americans (62 percent Clinton, 25 percent Bush)...

On foreign affairs, the margin was 56 percent to 32 percent in Clinton's favor; on taxes, it was 51 percent to 35 percent for Clinton; and on handling natural disasters, it was 51 percent to 30 percent, also favoring Clinton.

Moreover, 59 percent said Bush has done more to divide the country, while only 27 percent said Clinton had.

In other words, it's a slam dunk for Bill Clinton over George W. Bush.  Why am I not surprised that it's Clinton with Webb, Bush with Allen tomorrow?

Let's hope that Bush spreads some... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/18/2006 8:45:38 PM)
...of his campaign magic on Allen like he did for Kilgore last year...

Yeah, ask Jerry how that one worked out! (Lowell - 10/18/2006 8:56:01 PM)
Ha.

Pictures for both sides! (DanG - 10/18/2006 8:58:20 PM)
The best thing for Bill Clinton's legacy was George W. Bush.  We need lots of pictures.  Get Clinton with Webb for literature and such, and pictures of Bush and Allen for the media.

I agree. The Bill Clinton event should be publicized (Lowell - 10/18/2006 9:00:50 PM)
to the max.  The George W. Bush event?  Well, let's just say that something tells me we won't be seeing many pictures of THAT shindig!

I think otherwise (DanG - 10/18/2006 9:06:15 PM)
I think the media will be all over this.  Dueling Presidents.  I think the media will do plenty to show Bush and Allen.  This would be a good time to emphasize that they vote together 97% of the time.

I hope you're right. (Lowell - 10/18/2006 9:11:46 PM)
C'mon, media, let's see BushAllen, the 97% rubberstamp twins,  together!

By the way, let's review the two Presidents' (Lowell - 10/18/2006 9:09:33 PM)
failings.

Bill Clinton
*Consensual blow jobs from a woman who came onto him.
*Lying about said blow jobs.

George W. Bush
*Lying to take the country to war.
*Sending Colin Powell to the UN Security Council to present a bogus case for war.
*Tolerating massive waste, fraud and abuse in contracts for Iraq.
*Authorizing the United States of America to TORTURE people!
*Spying on American citizens without a warrant or probable cause.
*Running a network of secret prisons.
*Issuing unconstitutional "signing statements"
*Slandering those who oppose him as "traitors."
*Outing a covert CIA agent, Valerie Plame.
*Refusing to allow anyone to know the details surrounding Vice President Dick Cheney's "Energy Task Force."
*Engaging in utterly irresponsible and callous behavior with regard to New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina.

I could go on and on, but you get the point.

A Couple More (norman swingvoter - 10/18/2006 10:55:08 PM)
Clinton intervenes in Kosovo and Serbia.  We win with air power.

Bush intervenes in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Now up to 25000 US casualities and $440,000,000,000 with no end in sight. In each country our enemies are going stronger due to strategic blunders by the bush administration.

Oh wait you said failings, sorry just ignore the part about Clinton, he suceeded.

The new WSJ/NBC polls shows the Republicans drowning. (GeorgeAllenVa - 10/18/2006 9:48:37 PM)
They're in even worse shape than the Dems were in 1994. No way a weak candidate like George Allen will hold up against a strong guy like Jim Webb this year.

You'll Get A Charge Out of This (PM - 10/18/2006 10:17:17 PM)

Looks like Allen's Poll Numbers (loboforestal - 10/18/2006 10:43:47 PM)
Digg it !!!

Call me elitist... (libra - 10/18/2006 10:45:53 PM)
But I find it entirely fitting, that an intelligent Prex should support an intelligent candidate and that a Chimperor should support a rhesus monkey (also known as macaca)

go to C-span and listen to Clinton @ Georgetown (totallynext - 10/19/2006 12:09:10 AM)
C-span had Clintons address at Center for American Progress from Today.

It is right on - how Democrats versus Republicans (idologes) understand and look at the world totally different.

Where will Bush be? (Glant - 10/19/2006 12:28:09 AM)
we need to know because the Secret Service will close down the roads for a 10 mile radius.

Is there a link (Adam Malle - 10/19/2006 11:46:24 AM)
i can not find one

I do not know how to do a link on this web site (totallynext - 10/19/2006 5:50:27 PM)
Dailykos is easy to attach a link - I have tried on this site and I just get confused - that includes uploading and or linking pictures.

It's almost exactly the same as at Daily Kos (Lowell - 10/19/2006 8:41:11 PM)
I post at both sites, and there's pretty much no difference.  If anything, I find SoapBlox sites like RK easier to deal with than Scoop-based sites like Daily Kos.

It's under "Recent Programs" (Lowell - 10/19/2006 8:42:46 PM)
at C-Span.

Economics....... Clinton Left with a SURPLUS..... vs. GWB's Deficit (BlueDog - 10/19/2006 11:00:31 AM)
.... and then there's the issue of North Korea:  Clinton's State Department folks actively managed that situation so that we did not end up surprised by a crisis situation.  The key words are energetic management ..as opposed to laissez faire neglect.
