We need as many lawyers and law students as possible to help provide assistance at the polls on Election Day.  If you are not a lawyer, please pass this along to any lawyers you know who may be willing to help.

The 2006 mid-term elections are expected to be contentious throughout the country and Virginia is no exception.  The Senate race between Jim Webb and George Allen is one of the most important in the nation and could make the difference in which party controls the Senate.

We need your assistance to help ensure that every qualified voter will get to voteGÇöand know that her or his vote has been counted.
If you can help, or know a lawyer or law student who can, please let me know.

I joined, now what (Catzmaw - 10/18/2006 5:42:04 PM)
I joined the campaign several days ago and someone put me on the Lawyers for Webb list, but I'm not clear about what to do next.  I have a hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. but could be available starting in the late morning and on to the rest of the day.

Could you post something about what we should be doing?

We'll be in touch (anitab - 10/18/2006 8:31:40 PM)
Let us know at lawyersforwebb@yahoo.com

no "recount"... (lgb30856 - 10/19/2006 10:37:44 AM)
as in the creigh deeds "recount". there is not recount in va just a look at the tabulation. that is all. what is a lawyer to do? we had one at the recount. he did nothing.

There are other important functions for lawyers (anitab - 10/19/2006 10:58:10 AM)
We want to have lawyers at the polls to make sure that if voters are challenged, there is someone there to make sure they get a provisional ballot, and if a question comes up, they know who to contact - immediately - to get it resolved.  We may not be able to do everything, but we can do something.  I'll know more after the training.

I already signed up and will do what I can... (Delta Mike - 10/19/2006 10:48:15 AM)
... but just to be clear, does it matter if you are a member of the Virginia, because I am not?

Virginia Bar Membership Helpful, But Not Essential (anitab - 10/19/2006 10:59:59 AM)
It is not essential that you be a member of the Virginia bar. In fact, law students are welcome.

It helps if you are a registered voter in Virginia.

John Herbig (Nichole - 10/19/2006 6:46:38 PM)
My father John Herbig sent you an email! He wants to help.

He is in Richmond, VA.

Thanks!

He's on the list (anitab - 10/23/2006 9:50:36 PM)
Training is scheduled for this week.  I hope he can attend.

Okay, it's all set, now about the fee ... (Catzmaw - 10/19/2006 8:05:40 PM)
What?  There's no fee?  It's VOLUNTEER!! Oh, whatever.  Can't blame a lawyer for doing what comes naturally.

You'll be rewarded in heaven (anitab - 10/23/2006 9:51:29 PM)
And when the democrats take over the Senate!
