Michael Shear on George Allen's "Mute-Button Strategy"

Writing in today's Washington Post, Michael Shear confirms that George Allen's "RUN AWAY!" moment after Monday night's debate was no aberration.  Instead, as Shear writes:

Weeks after George Allen 's mouth got him into serious trouble, the senator's advisers have apparently decided that he should shut up.

In other words, what we have here is a Senate candidate so bad, so untrustworthy, that his campaign advisors are afraid to let him open his mouth lest he say something else offensive or stupid.  And yet they believe Virginians should re-elect this guy to the U.S. Senate?  How stupid to Dick Wad(hams) and Company think we are?  And, even more to the point, how stupid do they think THEIR CANDIDATE is?!?

Here's Something Interesting (PM - 10/12/2006 12:48:29 PM)
From today's Washington Examiner:http://www.examiner....

Allen gives Foley cash to Donna Rice

One good scandal deserves another. The New York Daily News reports that Sen. George Allen, R-Va., has given a $5,000 campaign contribution from disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., to an anti-porn group called Enough Is Enough. In a curious twist, that organization is headed by none other than Donna Rice-Hughes, whose affair with former Sen. Gary Hart, D-Colo., ended his presidential bid in 1988.

I am not agreeing it's a scandal; Ms. Rice has become a born again Christian.  But I cannot resist this lame attempt at humor.

Anyone remember the boat she was caught canoodling on?

The Monkey Business.  As in macaca?

By the way, Eight is Enough's board is stocked with GOP contributors.

Sill, probably perfectly legitimate.

Send to WaPo "Reliable Source" Gossip Column (bb10 - 10/12/2006 2:18:25 PM)
That's a great catch. I hope you'll send that information to the columnists for the "Reliable Source" gossip column in the "Style" section of the "Washington Post." This is exactly the kind of snarky, weird "news" that they like to carry.

You can find an email link for the columnists at the top of today's column, here.

Mute Button Strategy (catbird - 10/12/2006 3:12:11 PM)
It appears they are keeping the chicken from laying any eggs.

Too bad... (libra - 10/12/2006 6:11:50 PM)
Allen is not as intransigent as Bush; we could have had 3+ weeks of fun...
