Run Away!!!!

You know, it says a lot about a candidate for U.S. Senate when he's so afraid, so terrified, of his own shadow that he won't even stick around for 5 minutes after a debate to answer reporters' questions.  According to the Daily Press, following last night's debate with Jim Webb in Richmond:

Allen wasn't there to respond, having been hustled from the building immediately after the debate and not answering reporters' questions.

Hustled out of the building to avoid reporters?  My gosh, what could Senator Allen and his intrepid advisors - Dick Wad(hams) et al. - have been so afraid of?  You think it could have been all those nasty, liberalliberalliberalliberal reporters and their insidious, "baseless" questions?  Ha ha. You know, like maybe questions about Allen's use of the "n" word, his serious financial reporting/ethical lapses, his slimy/lying attack ads against Jim Webb, his failure to pass a GI bill of rights or to raise the minimum wage, his vote to deprive 100,000 Virginians of tuition tax credits, his de facto belief that John Warner is in the "cut and run" camp on Iraq?

Or, was it the presence of that tough guy tracker, S.R. Sidarth, in the building?  Yeah, that must have been it!  Or, was George Allen terrified that his "worst nightmare," Jim Webb, would challenge him to a boxing match right there on the spot?  Is that why Allen jumped on his horse...er, pony...and skedaddled into the night?  Maybe all of the above?

Or, could it have been...the fearsome, legendary Monty Python Trojan Rabbit?  Yeah, maybe that was what prompted George Allen to "run away!!!" last night.  Yeah, that's the ticket...a Trojan Rabbit!

BEDEVERE:
U-- u-- uh, Launcelot, Galahad, and I, uh, leap out of the rabbit, uh, and uh...
ARTHUR:
  Ohh.
BEDEVERE:
Oh. Um, l-- look, i-- i-- if we built this large wooden badger--
  [clank]
  [twong]
ARTHUR:
  Run away!
KNIGHTS:
Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away!
  [CRASH]
FRENCH GUARDS:
Oh, haw haw haw haw! Haw! Haw haw heh...

Hey George, you know what?  You can "run away," but you can't hide!  Ha.

Local politics (Rebecca - 10/10/2006 8:52:38 PM)
I don't want any Webb people to get overconfident and slack off, but I thought I should report this. My neighbors have removed both their marriage amendment bumper sticker and their Allen bumper sticker. My other neighbor has removed his/her Allen bumper sticker.

Have you been talking to your neighbors? (Lowell - 10/10/2006 9:14:47 PM)
Did they tell you why they did this?

I didn't talk to them, but my car did (Rebecca - 10/10/2006 9:24:00 PM)
No, I haven't talked to them. I park my car by theirs. Here's what it says on my bumper. I have three stickers:

1. Bush trying to exit that door in China. Caption: "No Exit Strategy?"

2. Second sticker says: "Don't blame me, I voted Democratic"

3. Third sticker says: "Webb for Senate"

One of my neighbors has a crucifix above the fireplace. I can see this through their window. They also have a statue of Mary in their sunroom. I think they had the marriage amendment sticker on their car.

cut and run.. (drmontoya - 10/10/2006 11:28:02 PM)
something george allen has mastered.

Another Engagement? (Teddy - 10/11/2006 12:05:26 AM)
That must have been it.  Where he and his lawyer will craft  his alibi on why he did not disclose those pesky stock options, maybe. The alibi  where it is Clinton's fault. Or the engagement where the Stock Brokers' association, if there is one, endorses him, perhaps?

Don't knock run away's (Gordie - 10/11/2006 7:06:42 AM)
George is trying to set himself up for a new book when he leaves office in January. He has seen how much the "Run Away Bride" may be getting. So he figures he can write a book about the "Run Away Senator"

Allen won the debate? (va.walter - 10/11/2006 8:29:39 AM)
I said right after the debate that Webb could have done better but that I was happy with his performance.  I obviously thought Allen came across as his normal goofy, fake, condescending self.  I was shocked to see this today.

I understand Republicans thinking Allen won but how could Independents think he won and how could only 58% of Democrats think Webb won?

Could be propaganda (Rebecca - 10/11/2006 9:15:48 AM)
It could be fabricated. Remember, Fox news called Foley and Chafee Democrats. You can only be sure if you or a reputable firm do the poll.

Come on now. You can't be serious. (va.walter - 10/11/2006 12:30:27 PM)
You can question SUSA's methodology but to imply that SUSA or WDBJ7 would make up a poll is just ridiculous.
