Best Debate Analysis, and Why Didn't I Know about this Blog?

See the Richmond War Room for the best analysis I've read so far of last night's debate.  Why didn't I know about this blog before today?  I guess that "Richmond War Room" must be at a super-secret location or something!  Ha.

Lowell Feld is Netroots Coordinator for the Jim Webb for US Senate Campaign.  The ideas expressed here belong to Lowell Feld alone, and do not represent those of Jim Webb, his advisors, staff, or supporters.

That IS a great blog. (phriendlyjaime - 10/10/2006 2:44:09 PM)
I have visited a few times; I like them for football and politics.  And I thought they had good coverage on the debate as well.

Mark Plotkin on debate... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/10/2006 2:52:31 PM)
This was just posted during Plotkins online chat:
http://www.washingto...

Alexandria, Va.: Sir: Who, in your opinion, came out as either clear winner/ did the least damage to his own campaign in last night's debate?

Mark Plotkin: Webb is not a polished smooth politician yet, but he did seem more comfortable than he has in the past. His non-political persona I think ironically might appeal to some people. His authenticity is attractive and he surely doesn't try to be something he isn't. He wanders rhetorically a bit, but Allen staying on message all the time seems a bit robotic and definitely not stimulating. Webb never backed down and seems to be enjoying the experience a lot more, which will make him a more appealing candidate.

There are many more Webb questions but this one really struck me as Plotkin seems to have completely done a 180 on Webb in the last few months.

offtopic question for LCD (TurnVirginiaBlue - 10/10/2006 2:54:29 PM)
You earlier had captured an image from the YouTube flash to "fake" an embedded object with the img HTML tag...

how did you capture the 1st frame of the video as an image in order to upload it into photobucket?

I've tried a few ways here and keep coming up with no image capture on the 1st frame of the YouTube video.

Thanks.

I just hit the print screen button... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/10/2006 2:56:32 PM)
...pasted it into paint, clipped it out, and saved it as a jpeg...

No secret tricks here...

OK... (phriendlyjaime - 10/10/2006 3:03:54 PM)
so I am trying to do this as well.  I can watch a video, pause it where I want to, and then somehow save that image as a pic?

I worked for me... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/10/2006 3:14:42 PM)
I took this screen grab from the middle of the Leadership ad:

Here's the deal... (phriendlyjaime - 10/10/2006 3:19:10 PM)
This is a pretty funny video, and the picture I want in it is the old black and white pic of Allen spitting tobacco.  It's about 15-20 seconds in-you'll know it.  But when I pause and right click print, I don't see how I am supposed to drag that into paint.  Or save it.  Can I get a little help from a phriend?  :)

Look on your keyboard for a button labeled "PrtScrn" or "PrintScreen".  Or google to find how your computer
takes the entire screen as displayed on your computer
and saves it as an image.

Right click to print the computer/print driver doesn't know how to print type "Flash"

(hmmmm....I think I've got somethin' to sell to YouTube!  ;))

details (TurnVirginiaBlue - 10/10/2006 3:28:14 PM)
go to Youtube webpage.

Hit your PrtScrn button that is on your keyboard.

Open up your favorite image editing program, say Photoshop,

hit "new" and then hit "paste"

then lasso the video image from the rest of it and say "copy"
open up "new" and hit paste.

Save as JPEG or GIF and upload to your photobucket account.

Thank you!  For some reason "PrtScrn" never hits my web vocab brain...
I was looking for some real time app to take a selection and turn it into a .jpg automatically.

Doh.

We both loved it. (kevinceckowski - 10/10/2006 6:04:01 PM)
What a great line, Political Sewage............

Love the story in WAPO today about Allen's SEC UNdisclosures.

This guy can't shoot straight.
Don't let him on the firing range with Cheney.

Head for cover!!!

He is a realist first and foremost so his analysis is usually spot on.
