A candidate who starts with no money and no staff, and sometimes goes through an event without cracking a smile. A one-armed driver who's his best friend. A "gonzo" campaign in a good way. Check out this funny, but very positive article, about the Webb campaign at The Nation magazine. It's a hoot!

Unfortunately, I regret to have to say that some of the leaders of the Democrats in Virginia just don't get this. I am getting reports from some prominent Progressives who have been doing great things for the Democratic candidates that they are being snubbed, and even verbally abused when they try to work with some of these persons (I'm not going to mention any names)within the Democratic Party. I can assure you that the cases I have heard of have not been provoked by the Progressives. It's a real shame.
And I just realizes where I knew Mac from. He worked at Toosie's Bar in Nashville. It's an old Nashville landmark with a long history of being the watering hole for well-known country musicians. I've been stopping in there for years when I'm down there working. Though probably more a tourist attraction these days, if you go there and have a few drinks, you might just catch a glimpse of the ghost of Hank Williams. Well, it helps if you have more than a few.
