Great news from the Webb campaign...

(Arlington, Virginia) GÇô Today, the James Webb for U.S. Senate campaign announced its fundraising totals for the Third Quarter Federal Election Commission (FEC) reporting period.  From July 1 to September 30, 2006, Webb raised nearly $3.5 million, bringing his cash on hand total to $2.7 million.  The campaign has 20,000 donors.

GÇ£Since Jim announced his bid for U.S. Senate in March, he has traveled to every corner of the Commonwealth.  From day one, Jim has focused on three issues, ending the failed policy in Iraq, economic fairness, and restoring a system of oversight to Congress in order to hold the Bush Administration accountable,GÇ¥ said Webb campaign manager Jessica Vanden Berg.  GÇ£While George Allen has been focused on GÇÿslash and burnGÇÖ campaigning and blunder after blunder, people across Virginia and the country have embraced Jim and his message of change and they want a Senator they can be proud of.  Our grassroots and netroots organization is second to none-- our supporters are not only willing to put in countless hours, some working full time for the campaign, but they are willing to dig into their pocket books because they believe in Jim and are fed up with whatGÇÖs happening in Washington.GÇ¥

Since Jim Webb entered the race for U.S. Senate in March, 2006, he has raised approximately $4.6 million.

[UPDATE: Thursday's Washington Post has an article on Webb's fundraising numbers.  Its main conclusion: "Webb's financial success makes him competitive regardless of how much money Allen has raised."]

This is great news... Where is the DSCC contribution? (alex schultes - 10/4/2006 4:09:39 PM)
Great news! Jim Webb and the 20,000 donors who contributed to his campaign have done their job. Now, where is the DSCC support?

The DSCC (Arturo - 10/4/2006 4:33:27 PM)
The event with Prez Clinton on October 19 is authorized by the DSCC and Webb for Senate.

DSCC CASH (Ken C. - 10/4/2006 6:07:55 PM)
Post your requests for DSCC help at the DSCC Blog. http://www.fromthero...
I just posted a request there moments ago, the more there the merrier.
If you are not already a member you will need to join, takes about 20 seconds and they have a highly effective and strict "Troll Patrol" for any "wandering" A team members.

Nice!!!! (phriendlyjaime - 10/4/2006 4:16:33 PM)
So, the Hilary $$ wasn't counted in I presume, which means there is still that.  PLUS any other fundraising that comes up (and I know there is a BIG one coming...) PLUS all the netroots contributions that will come rolling in once Foleygate subsides a bit and this news gets out there.

Ah, how sweet it is.

wow... (littlepunk - 10/4/2006 4:34:58 PM)
...very impressive.  great news for the webb campaign.

Incredible (Arlington Mike - 10/4/2006 4:44:54 PM)
This is truly incredible.  I had hoped for around $2.5mil, just based on the buzz that was building.  To get this much, that's the level of cash needed to compete.  We weren't ever going to beat Allen on cash, with the head start he had, but this assures that we can get our message out in advance of Election Day.

And, it shows that there are a lot of people who buy into what Webb is talking about, who believe in him and want to see him win.  That's exciting!

Great Numbers! (K - 10/4/2006 4:48:55 PM)
Does this include the DSCC contribution?

i think (littlepunk - 10/5/2006 1:24:38 AM)
the dscc can only write a check for a very limited amount to the campaign.  under $100k i believe?  the value of the dscc comes not in its donation but the millions in independent expenditures and 'contrast ads' that it can provide.

How much has Allen raised up this point? (thegools - 10/4/2006 6:54:43 PM)
Anyone?

Ads (virginiablue2008 - 10/4/2006 6:57:06 PM)
When is Webb going to step up the ads?  He needs more exposure.

450K... (jdawg - 10/5/2006 3:49:19 AM)
I think is all DSCC can directly contribute to Webb's campaign.  The rest has to be done without coordination.  ALlen's a tool...

Also, Allen won't say how much money he's raised  ;)
