Allen to Give "Major" Statewide Address Monday Night

I'm on Allen's email list just to see what's happening on the other side. He's doing a major info-ad buy with a speech tomorrow night. I don't how much this ad buy is going to cost his campaign but it should be in upwards of $500,000 or more at least. Joe Lieberman did a similar ad buy on the eve of the Connecticut primary which some strategists claim helped him significantly narrow Ned Lamont's lead in the polls but wasn't enough to ensure a win.

I don't know how many of these Allen is going to do but I guess his campaign can afford to do them though.

RE:  Senator Allen to Give Statewide Television Address

October 1, 2006

Senator Allen to Give Major Statewide Address Monday Night

Senator Allen has run every campaign that he has been in focusing on the issues that Virginians care about. Over the years you have often heard him say, GǣIssues Matter.Gǥ Well, issues and ideas do matter.

Democrats know when this race is about his record, issues, and ideas George Allen wins.  ThatGs why they are attacking him and attacking him fiercely.

Senator Allen believes Virginians deserve to have this campaign focused on the issues and the differences between his views and record of performance and those of James Webb. So, he is going to bring this campaign back to where it belongs.

On Monday evening, Senator Allen will be giving a major address to Virginians on statewide television. This two-minute talk will be a defining moment in this campaign. In the days to come, you will hear Senator Allen, Susan Allen and thousands of concerned Virginians reminding Virginia voters of what is important in deciding their vote:

As Governor George Allen put Virginia on the cutting edge of reform:

●  Elected by the largest landslide in modern Virginia history

●  Left office as one of the five most popular Governors in country

●  Ground breaking reformer with a strong record of accomplishments:
  ▪  Reformed welfare
  ▪  Abolished parole for violent felons
  ▪  Developed strong educational standards

●  Economic development and revitalization, including the high tech sector

●  Brought more than 312,000 net new jobs and over $14 billion in new investment to Virginia

As he has in all his past campaigns George Allen is focused on ideas:

●  Making America globally competitive in math, science, and technology, and incenting young people and teachers to enter those key fields

●  Comprehensive energy plan that will make us less dependent of foreign oil

●  Economic prosperity G reducing the tax burden on working families including making the current tax relief permanent which would eliminate the marriage penalty tax, eliminate the death tax and continue the $1,000 child tax credit.

Because this statewide address will mark a turning point in the campaign, it is important that as many people as possible tune in to see it. Please forward this e-mail message to your own lists, whether political or personal. Please contact as many supporters, friends and even undecided voters as you can between now and Monday evening. Urge them to tune in and listen as Senator Allen speaks directly to Virginians about what really matters in this campaign.

Quite a letter (VA Breeze - 10/1/2006 11:22:24 PM)
Too bad none of it is true.

Notice Which Shows He's Between? (bb10 - 10/2/2006 9:31:04 AM)
Did you see which TV shows Allen's ad appears between? Some of the juxtapositions sound like summaries of his campaign:

  - Between “Access Hollywood” and “Deal or No Deal”
[Allen raises more money from Hollywood than Webb, but accuses Webb of strong Hollywood links. And what "deal" will Allen propose to Virginia voters this evening? Should we accept it or reject it?]

  - Between “Wheel of Fortune” and “How I Met your Mother”
[How will the wheel of fortune spin? How much more truth about Allen's past will come out in the remainder of the campaign? Well, and the "mother" thing....well, George just says we're supposed to leave her out of all of this, except when HE uses her to accuse other people of "aspersions," right?]

He's going to announce (PM - 10/2/2006 9:47:19 AM)
that in regards to the Foley scandal, he'll get to the bottom of it.
